We've Been Adopted...
This little stray cat showed up on our back porch 3 weeks ago all shaggy, skinny and looked like it was dying from starvation. It had obviously been treated very badly by people because it's scared to death if you try to get near it. Slowly she or he is getting used to us. According to my wife it's a Tuxedo Cat.
We haven't had any pets since the last of our kids moved out and don't want any but we can't let this little guy or gal go hungry. This cat will eat anything including baked potato skins, vegetable soup, steak scraps, spam, pizza, bread, you name it. I guess when your starving you take what you can get.
My wife bought her, my wife says it's a girl, anyway she bought her some dried cat food yesterday and I thought the cat was going to choke herself to death eating it so fast. Then she washed it down with a pretty good size bowl of milk. Her belly is starting to drag the ground. Oh well looks like we back in the pet business. Where is that flea and tick medicine she'll have to have that next.

What a cutie. Yes, you have been adopted. Dogs are man's best friend. Humans survive to serve the feline.

Personally, I'm not a cat person, but would help one out if I was in the same position. Well done.... 3 -
Looks a lot like Stupid. Stupid was a cat that adopted me when I was getting my house ready to sell in town before Judy and I got married. She had a collar on that was so tight she could barely breath and couldn't swallow. I removed the collar and she wouldn't leave my side when I was around. Neighbors didn't know where she came from so Judy ended up with a twofer, two stupids for the price of one. I was never a cat person up to that time but I will admit to a few tears when she succumbed to kidney disease 12 years later. I was reminded of her last night watching the car race because she loved races and would bat at the cars as they disappeared off the side of the screen. Couldn't ever figure out where they went, hence the name Stupid. Bob 0 -
If you could have heard what the cat was thinking..."He calls me stupid but I'm the one that doesn't have to work and lays around eating and watching TV. Call me anything but don't forgot to call me for dinner."BobJudy said:Looks a lot like Stupid. We took in 2 male stray kittens back in November now we're up to 4 and the house hasn't been the same. And for the most part they're not kittens any more. 0 -

I'm beginning to believe this cat will never trust a human enough to come inside a house though she is a little better now than at first. I had to take the picture I posted above by zooming in though the window in our back storm door while I stood back in the kitchen out of sight which is the reason the picture is a little blurry. She checks everything out before she'll come onto the porch to get food. Nervously looking side to side and then she moves forward and eats as fast as she can before she takes off again. Somebody must have really abused this cat.0 -
God for you, smitty. 0 -
giver it time they will come around had them all my life 0 -
A cat doesn't have to have been treated bad to be leery of humans. If it came from a litter mom kept hid away and wasn't around folks it will act that way. Same for pups, though pups usually warm up quicker than cats. 0 -
sit in chair and keep moveing food bowl closer to ya 0 -
We were adopted 5 years ago. We had to set a live trap so we could have her spayed. It took years, but now she'll rub against my hand, if there's food in it. She's even got a heated house on the porch. She earns her keep as we don't have any vermin problems. Yep, she's the smart one. 0 -
congratulations on the new pal
we have give or take about 15 cats I have not counted for some time . ( we took in two strays two years ago both gave us 5 each about two weeks later ) we have several more my sons my wife or I have picked up or were given to us and a several my wife had to prove we were ok by placing food out for them over a year(s) time they ( there have been many over the years ) then slowly make pals with them fuzzy was the latest one he hung around a couple years before deciding it was safe now he is jut another leg rubbing food bill LOL
oh and yes we have them fixed asap when we get a new one and another income for the local vet ( I am sure they love us the cats and the Vet)0 -
At the moment, my apprentice lion is sound asleep about 2 feet away. Smoke gray tom w/ 4 white socks, thinks he is a dog. Follows me around the yard, comes when I whistle, sleeps on the foot of the bed. Actually pretty good company, sudden death to mice and moles. 0
