AWG and connecting USB chargers in a vehicle

I’m planning to install several of these USB charging “stations” throughout my RV.  I’m anticipating connecting them to various light switches with 18AWG wire.  So - I’ll have 12v DC running directly to the stations.  Will this work?  Or do I need to connect thru some sort of diode(?) to make things work correctly?

  Why not install "cigar lighter" style outlets instead, then pickup a few of the small USB chargers that plug into them? To use a 12V station for some other device, just pull out the USB charger and plug in another toy.

  Unless you boondock and don't have shore power when camping, this is the best option.

  I’ve thought about these.  But on the couple of receptacles I’ve looked at in the RV, the boxes are very / too small for a large outlet.  I may put some in the house though! Thank you!
