Dang, thieves got another one

Just got notified that thieves struck again and stole a Buddies 2018 Ford F-250 with ladder rack and all of his roofing tools.
Parked in his drive, and when he woke this morning, it was gone, and he has a fairly lengthy driveway and secluded home.
This is getting crazy for a rural area.
Hope if they find them and it, that it opens some leads to my missing pickup.

    Update.
    they just found the truck 20 miles from where it was stolen, with all tools and truck intact, but of course no one around, just sitting there.
    My Buddy is a lot luckier than I.

    Buddy didn't forget where he lived did he?
    Know a lady who was parked in a shopping mall. Drove about 70 miles home, something didn't look right, wrong car, drove back to mall, got her car then back home. As far as we know owner of first care was never the wiser unless they caught the mileage difference.

    Hope they dusted for prints.  At the very least to have them on file for when they do catch up to the thieves they can go back this case too.  They'll catch them.

    Either they had a tow truck or he left the keys in it.. Since they left everything in it I'm gonna guess someone was tired of walking and started checking for an unlocked car.

    dang lucky he got it back.
    I hope they dusted it, I was hoping it would lead to information on mine.

     glad he got it back 
      some times it better not to get them back  no way to tell how the engine or transmission was treated 
         two old buddies I use to work with a couple years apart ones  truck and another's  car stolen  they used both  to load up all they could from the fellows garage(s) / barns and then drove to another secluded area both got the vehicles back the car had a strip of the rear seat cut out which was odd but the  LEO told him they cut a section of material to tie the trunk back down after busting the lock so if spotted it does not attract attention 
     the truck they loaded down with all they could and transferred to another waiting truck a sheriff rolled up on the truck as the bad guys were getting out and fast  , they had punched a hole in the gas tank to light it off , but the sheriff scared them just in time to stop it 
     he seen them speed away but he did not chase after them . 
    my guess and cant blame him maybe he just wanted to go home that night in one piece to his family and truck full of insured items was not worth his life

    Friend of mine has a newer cadillac stolen. Found in a field after the thieves took it joy riding and wrecked it.
    The care was covered with dust. Visible brand and fingerprints everywhere. The Sioux Falls police said "taking fingerprints is not something we do anymore. That is just tv stuff. You better talk to your insurance company"

    With the advent of computer identification of finger prints your police department procedure for not taking latent prints is ludicrous. I closed cases on home burglary, robbery, and stolen vehicles back when I was still working. And that was a long time ago.

    I am interested in knowing how the insurance company is handling your stolen truck. How are they deprecating it and or replacing it. If I was to have my 2019 f350 stolen I wonder how much I would loose.

    My 1999 Ford F-350 just had liability due to age, with mileage 105K and condition, I could have sold it for close to $20K, but insurance replacement was much lower, so 4 or 5 years ago I dropped it to liability and my homeowners/Farm insurance wouldn't cover it being stolen, only contents.
    So I am just out a pickup at this point.

    Alpine, I have been completely disappointed in our local county sheriffs dept's handling of my pickup theft,  I think I would have gotten more response in reporting a jaywalker on a county road.
    They acted like it was just an inconvenience and no big deal.

    Sounds like you guys need to vote in a new sheriff, Mule. Write a letter to the local paper along about election time telling of your experience. That's what happened here some years back.
