Mash'em up with saltine crackers in a bowl and add mayonnaise and Tabasco to your taste. Eat'em with a spoon .

It has been many YEARS since I bought any. I have a hard time with sardines because of the smell. I do like most fish but do the kippers have a strong pungent smell?? 0 -
They are milder than sardines in my opinion Brookwood. 0 -
Oh yeah!!! Kippers with crackers, squirt cheese and cold beer! My granddaughters even like them...the youngest even drinks all the leftover juice ...They do stink! 0 -
I am going to have to try some again. I even like canned anchovies and finding stuff that lasts on a shelf without refrigeration is good to have around! 0 -

All canned fish is good......with mustard or hot sauce of various flavors....crackers or none. They last practically forever. Great source of protein.....and cheap. 3 -

I also enjoy a can or two of smoked oysters on crackers! My tastes have changed over the years and my next run to the store will include some sample tins all the fish products. 0 -
Have tons of it onhand.
Kippers, Sardines, Smoked Oysters, etc. (including King Oscar Bristling double layer.) [The best.] 30 + cans of Tuna. Most, White Albacore in oil. Had a couple tuna sandwiches last couple days. Excellent. Diced celery, diced Butter pickles, slice of swiss, a lot of Lettuce. A bunch of Salad dressing/Miracle whip. Not that Mayonnaise stuff. 😣 Whole wheat bread.
Bought 4 more cans of White Albacore in oil, just now. Can never have too much Tuna on hand.
Tons of cheap Saltines on hand upstairs, for just such an occasion.

Man,.....that is some horrible stuff. I had someone challenge me to eat one of those things years ago, and of course I did. Most of the folks that participated had it easy and just puked quick. I never puked, but I dry heaved for 20 minutes, and then was nauseous for another half hour.You couldn't get me in the same room with a can of that crap again.

I am surprised one or two here have mentioned Beechcliff as being "good." I have a bunch, but I consider them a low cost alternative (akin to Treet VS. Spam.) Ate a tin of Beechcliff in olive oil with green chilies (jalepenos) last week. Beechcliff are about 5 sardines to a tin. They are inexpensive. Maybe .89 cents per tin, so I have a bunch. But my least favorite. I enjoy almost all tinned fish, but enjoy the smallest Sardines the best. If I want to treat myself, I bust out a tin of King Oscar double layer bristling in olive oil, and some crackers and sharp cheddar cheese. Was always good backpacking fare, as much as my Buddies hated me busting out a tin. Same with the guys at work. 😁

I placed an order for pick up tomorrow from Wallyworld. I did just one can of several fishes but many of the recommended brands were unavailable. Some like the Bumble Bee brand were packed in vegetable oil without mention of what kind. Not many normal choices but did hit a couple King Oscar's and a couple skinless\boneless types.
What I found a bit disappointing was the absence of any flavored sauces like mustard or jalapeno.
Got kippers, sardines, smoked oysters, smoked trout, anchovies in a glass jar, and a variety of good crackers!
I will start a post with some critiques on my eating pleasures soon! Joel0 -

When I buy tinned fish, I make sure the product isn't from China. My least favorite are smoked oysters. Octopus is good depending on the sauce/liquid. Polar brand kippers are my favorite.
I'm pleasantly surprised so many of you like tinned fish other than tuna.0
