    It is a little weird, but the great blessing you wouldn't have to pay for a pesky septic tank.

    It is kind of cool. As long as the foundations on the river bank were constructed properly so they can't wash out I don't think I'd have a problem with it. Obviously no basement and not enough land to build a garage on but if I was downsizing, I'd think about it. I wonder if they'll get the quarter mill asking price? Someone has done a good job upgrading the interior but no land and less than a thousand square feet makes that seem a bit high. Bob

    there was a house in WVa near where i grew up that was built like that.  would make bathroom plumbing a little easier,  have you ever tried to dig a septic tank in ground like that by hand.

    Nope,, I stayed in a nice hotel once that had a stream running under it.. I was up all night peeing,, I could hear that water running in my sleep

    prairie country here.....small creeks and not much elevation difference but i remember well  September 10, 1973  when a left over hurricane made it this far north and we got 14 inches of rain in one day.....every road was a river

    The Ellicott City house is in my area.  Due to overbuilding of the area upstream, the town has been flooded in 2016 & 2018 (& about a dozen other times since 1800).  Not a lot of folks around here would take a chance on a house built over the river.  There is a new special featuring Gordon Ramsay on HBO (I think), showing him saving 2 of the restaurants.

    EDIT:  No septic systems in the hills above this home.  But, the building title shows one person owns the A part, & someone else owns the B part.  Huh?  I think someone needs a real estate lawyer.

    No thank you, the house is not objectionable, its location is alright and fairly unique.  My objection is the proximity of other housing.  I do not want to be able to see my neighbors at all.  It is 3/8's mile down the roads to my closest neighbors.  I own all the land down to them.  Being in the country grants me the privacy to do as I please even if that includes walking out to the chicken coop buck azzed neeked.

    I would buy a house boat before that place!  At least I could move around and go where the best fishing is!  The price asked would get a pretty nice boat.  And, dodging property taxes would be a very BIG plus!

    I believe the house you see in the picture is like a guest house since the steps lead down to the other house and it has the same type and color siding.

    I would advise to wear shoes if going into the roost. I dropped my gum in one when I was a kid and it took me three times before I found it. ymmv

     you would have to like the sound of running water that's  for sure and 260k well not for me 
     when I was a kid there was one build over a small creek that ran thru the edge of town still in town thought  I always thought it was neat 
       thinking back  it was way to shallow   but as kid I seen the possibility of fishing of the porch or a hole in the floor  LOL even remember my dad making  comments about it 
     at  some time in the  distant past it was torn down and also the town has tripled in size now 
     but way back when it was a neat old house

    The House was built in 1940. I have to wonder is it in it's original position or did float there.
