It is unusual to find a 40X action by itself let alone a rimfire version. Most of these are available as complete rifles for more money than is viable for tearing one down for just the action. However, rimfire actions are becoming more widespread as the sport of rimfire competition explodes. There are now several manufacturers of custom actions made specifically for rimfire ammunition whether for competition, hunting or just plinking for fun and relaxation.

    Trident by Holeshot
    Stiller 2500XR
    Turbo
    Hall
    Voodoo
    RimX
    Falcon
Far less expensive in the short or long run are the the new CZ actions (452, 455, 457), Anschutz (several versions) or those available as used rifles such as the Winchester M52 and Mauser 340.

    Best.

nononsense forgot more about guns than I will ever know but the prices on the actions he listed give me the heebeejeebees.  I have never shot an Anschutz 54 action that disappointed me.  You can find rifles with the 54 action on the auction side for about 1/2 of what those actions cost.  You can sell the barrel and stock to recoup some of your money and build an extremely accurate rifle from there.  If you are pure benchrest then going with some of the other actions might be better but it takes deep pockets to play in that area.

We all have different levels of sophistication, satisfaction and expertise. Not everyone needs the best actions like BAT or Borden when a Remington 700 is at their level of satisfaction and affordability. But that certainly shouldn't prevent any of the rest us from passing on a list of excellent actions for rimfire. If frugality is your cup of tea, don't waste your time reading about the best actions.
    Best.

I have looked at the Vudoo SINISTER several times in the past.  I want one, PERIOD.  Maybe after the China Virus thing is over and the economy settles down I can swing getting one.

For a sporter I'm fond of the Kimber of N.Y.  22 bolt action.  Also have a very nice old Mauser of similar design.  Nice quality and I'm partial to the firing pin being center bolt with the chamber off center relative to the center line of the bolt.
