I bought this Colt in 1981 in Reno. The damn thing wouldn't even run with factory ball out of the box. It took a little work but she came around and became a good shooter. She deserved to be treated better but I forgot where she was and just found her tonight. I drove to the office, tore her completely apart and have her soaking in Evap o Rust. I will fix her. 3 -
so, where was it to get that bad?
you gonna list it as, 'Like new Old stock' ??3 -
Dropped it in the outhouse hole? 0 -
isn't that the one you repossessed from 84Bravo? 3 -
green font // is there some group we can call like peta except for guns ... and report the mistreatment
well what ever oil or brown protective coating you applied failed that test
one more.. I am sure the glock owners will add in if it was glock you would not have to deal with the rust
post up after shots when you get it cleaned up / presentable
question are you going to do some blasting / grinding and buff it out or clean it up bead blast and give it a coat of one of the protective color finishes0 -
A bit to heavy on that water based brown protective coating. I hope the internals look better than the exterior. How long did it take to get that bad? Bob 0 -
A guy asked his not-very-bright brother to hold on to a shotgun for him while he did a year in prison. The fellow had a deer hide that he thought would make a good substitute for a gun case. The hide had been cured with salt.

did you find that taped to the inside wheelwell of the new van???????????
a wire wheel on grinder and a dremel and you should be good to go......0 -
Looking at the bright-side it looks like the grips held up pretty good .....

For sale soon. 😉

If it wasn't before, it will certainly make a good tackle box gun. 0 -
That would make a nice brushed stainless candidate. I am sure there are some fake high dollar brushed ones out there now. 0 -
That looks like a job for Superm, uh Forgemonkey! 6 -
You just made John Moses Browning cry. 3 -
Made a lot of us cry.

We had a guy bring a gun that looked like that to our store one time......he said it was his "Sea-Doo" gun. Yep.....there is a guy out there that keeps a gun in his jetski. 0 -
Stuff happens. Somewhere in a box I have an old single shot Stevens 12ga with an open barrel that was sawed off (24 inches, it's legal) for rabbit hunting. I bought it from a friend a long time ago, broke it down and put it in a box when I moved. who knows what kind of shape it will be in when I open the box (which ever box it is). 0 -
Did you leave it out in the garage or shed? 0 -
I may - or may not - have something like that buried in my back yard. (It seemed like a good idea at the time.) 0 -
I don't see the problem. Oil it up and go shoot it, no worries. 3 -
I could see doing something like that with Springfield Armory or an Auto Ordnance but not a Colt.

Turnbull if you got more money than sense or Robar NP3 treatment on the slide and frame then an overhaul. I suppose you can get creative with cerakote if the pitting's real bad. 0 -
See, that would never happen to a Glock. 3 -
List it on the auction side. I'm interested as is. 3 -
It ain't for sale. She will be better than new when I finish and she is staying right where she is. Most of the corrosion ( you never use the word rust when talking about a gun unless it belongs to someone else and you are trying to get a better price
is gone and all the internals, which were in good shape, are cleaned and ready for assembly. In the next couple of weeks as time permits I will get her back together and test fire. Then I will decide on the finish. It was a factory satin nickel gun and I may just leave her in the white. Or I might send her to Fords and have her dressed up. No hurry, she has been with me for 40 years.0
