I was up in your neck of the woods last week. We were staying at my wife’s brothers in blountville tn. Beautiful country and the weather was great.

Yes Sir. Indeed God's Country. Beautifull.
Butchdog2 and Cling2myguns can attest to that. Both not too far away.
Hope you ate some BBQ.

BBQ at ridgewood but I didn’t really like it. I’m not into that kind of bbq.

Wow. I've always heard good things about Ridgewood. (Have not been there personally.) Passed it a few times while working Construction out that way. Always packed. Don't like Vinegar based BBQ? (Prevalent in this area.)
Personally I like our small rural Mike's BBQ. About 6-7 miles down the road. Mmnnn...........good.
JLTrent also not too far away in SW VA.

I will have to try mikes the next time I’m up that way which will be some time this summer or fall.

Give me a call next time you are down this way. I'd love to meet some GBGD Brothers. Maybe we can get a couple of us together.
Mike's is not much to look at. (It recently doubled in size though.) Take out or eat in the outdoor covered dining area. Has a huge following. Covered up with motorcycles in the Summer time. (People riding the Snake.) Next time you are down this way, take 421 from Bristol over Shady Mountain/Valley in to Mtn. City. Not to be missed.

Ridgewood is excellent IMHO. 0 -
Mike's has a somewhat built in to the ground, seperate wood fired (Oak) smoke shack. Right behind the main Kitchen.
Smoke always rolling out of it 24/7.
Changed hands about 2-3 years ago. (Older previous Owner [Mike] retired or died.) New Owner keeping the tradition alive. Nothing has changed, apparently he got all the Secret dope.
For years and years, when living up North - My Parents would ask what I wanted for Christmas. It was always "Mike's BBQ." Would get a Omaha Steak styrofoam cooler loaded with shaved meat, seperate mason jar of sauce. I would make some good homemade Slaw. (Vinegar based.) Good buns, etc. Mmmnnnnnn..............................good.
Good BBQ is impossible to find up North. (NY/NJ area.) I do however miss the good deli subs, daily baked fresh italian/hard loaves, especially good Cheese Steaks. 😥

Growing up in upstate NY near Oneonta we always went to “Brooks BBQ”. People from all over NY and New England states would drive for hours to eat at Brooks. I guess it’s what ever anybody gets used to growing up that they like best. I have found good BBQ in pigeon forge and gatlinburg and seveirville area.
