    I used to see a lot of those machines.  My first job senior year of high school I used to go from store to store for a local grocery store chain filing cigarette machines and soda machines. I did not make a lot friends with the girls in the courtesy booth because I had to leave the money collected with them to count and it was always a full canvas bag of quarters.  No counting machines back then all the quarters were counted and put in sleeves by hand.

    Can remember one in the lobby area of the Junior High School I attended. 35 cents.
    Can also remember where many a students lunch money went.  :o

    I think it was maybe Parliament. I never smoked one of those.
    When I was in College as a country boy, the City dude bum's got to bumming cigarettes from me when on break and it was getting worse each day so I knew I needed a plan to break them City Dudes from suckin eggs.
    I got a cloth sack of Bull Durham (type in the little bag with draw string on top) and a pack of OCB papers and when they bummed me for a cigarette I just tossed them the Bull Durham and OCB's (which they had never seen) It was fun watching them  try to roll their own. I think maybe the tobacco was around 10 cents and the OCB's at nickel.  A dollar then was worth a dollar. Sometimes when they would take a big draw when lighting the end of their ugly rolled Bull Durham cigarette the fire and tobacco would go into their mouth. This broke them from bumming me for cigarettes. I did not ever let them know or see the Price Albert. I suspected they would have liked the PA and kept bumming. I think my store bought packs them days were Camels and Lucky Strikes. Think price of a pack was around a quarter.
    I quite smoking about 30 years ago. Quitting was hard, but one of the best things I ever done for myself.

    I haven't seen one in years. There used to be one by the door at my grandpa's restaurant. They were .25 cents a pack back then. Then I remember they went to .35 cents and you'd have thought the world was coming to an end. Even worse than when Coke's went from .5 cents to .6 cents. 

    Speaking of the restaurant, the pretty little redhead at the far left in the photo was my first girlfriend.  o:)

    Smitty, there is a small difference between .5 cents and 5 cents. And a much bigger one between .25 cents and 25 cents.

    Thank god you caught that! We're lucky to have you here catching what could be devastating mistakes if someone were to take the info at face value. Wheeew, that was close.
