Snagged another one from the Auction Side

drobs
Bid $450, 2 hours before it ended, and won it for $431. Picked it up at the seller's house in Springfield Missouri.
Already ordered a Hi-Viz fiber optic front sight and set of Hogue Hardwood "Match Champion" style grips.
Going for this look:

    Got a sp101 (3" .357) stainless in the safe ::: would like a .22 cal Ruger Revolver , just want one in a really good deal ???
    Other than that : Not real crazy bout Ruger wheel guns ???

    Good deal! I had no idea what they were going for so I checked. Most have sold for around $600 or so. I saw one that went for $338 but it was badly beaten up. So enjoy your new shootin' iron!

    I was sorely tempted to bid on a Harper's Ferry pistol that includes a case. My finger hovered over bidding for several seconds. The auction ended with no one bidding & it has been relisted. I have been trying to sell many of my guns & it is stupid to spend over $500 for a gun I will never shoot BUT I want it. Please someone bid on it & save me.

    I'd been looking for another Security Six after trading my 6 inch off. Still have my 3 inch.
    Nice deal about the GP100 is no shipping or transfer fee just a 1/2 tank of gas.

    Now I need to see what the deal is with "Shimming" Ruger revolvers. Probably not necessary for me.

    I am a revolver man.  Revolvers were my first handguns, you know how it is, you always love your first the most.  There is something special about Ruger revolvers.  I love the "Hell for stout" feeling they have in my hand.  I'm smart enough to know that defending myself means Mr. AR or Mr. 12 gauge will always be first choice but if I have to have a handgun in my hand to save my old wrinkled butt it will be a Ruger.

    I have an identical Security Six 6" Stainless. Recently purchased it at a gun show.. was my first centerfire pistol only in blue. Had to sell it to buy food for the table.

    I have three Ruger revolvers.  A sp101 in 327, a GP 100 in 357, and a SRH in 454.  All three shoot well.

    You done good. The GP100 in the picture was the First Hand Gun I bought when I moved to Florida in 1988. The snub nose SP101 was my first conceal carry gun  carried it for several years

    I have yet to get into the GP or SP series. 
    The Single Sixes, Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks, and Super Redhawks that I have acquired though, I like very much.

    38 special is what I shoot most of. Though I'll test em with 357 mag and let you know how I like em.

    My "New Super Blackhawk" (late 80's vintage) topped with a Leupold 2 X is my favorite hand gun.  20+ deer and with downgraded hand loads a range favorite.  It just shots very well for me.

    The simplest thing to check for Look closely under the ejection star , even 1 flake of burned or unburned "krud" will do it !!


    Ejecting cases with the muzzle straight up will help eliminate this problem.

    Found some crud under there hit it with a brush. Still locking up. Will do a deeper cleaning.
    I'm thinking it has something to do with the hand.

    Pretty sure that had something to do with it.

    Took it apart using this video:


    Took the cylinder off the Crane using redhawkk480's video.

    The Crane arm was really caked on with crud. Wiped all that down plus inside the cylinder, chambers, barrel, and under the ejector star.
    Hand looks good just a little dirty:

    Gave it a good cleaning and it it's working!

    Will shoot it later today.

    Just shot it some more. Fired off the following at my 25 yard gong.
    60rds - 158gr Lead Round Nose PPU 38 Special.
    12 rounds - 158gr Winchester FMJ 38 Special.
    18 rounds - 110gr Hornady Critical Defense 38 Special +P.
    18 rounds - 158gr Winchester JHP 357 Mag.
    6 rounds - 180gr Round Nose Flat Point Gas Check HSM Bear Load 357 Mag.

    Result are inconclusive but I don't think it likes 158gr Lead Round Nose PPU 38 Special.
    The hammer was getting harder to cock towards the end of the PPU. Bore looked like I melted a lead candle inside it.

    JHP and FMJ 38 special and 357 mag worked just fine. Plus cleaned the bore somewhat.
    HSM Bear Loads kick!!!

    I'm going to switch to FMJ and JHP only (non-PPU) for this gun and see how it goes.
