I took a quick look and ended up watching the entire thing. Really good and the interviewer did a great job, too.

I never met that guy.   If you watch Smokey and the Bandit from 1977, or even if you were around ten years ago, the trucking industry was a community.  Guys talked to each other all day on the CB.  Guys got together at truck stops, they had picnic tables set up outside with roofs above, guys would sit around and eat dinner, maybe have a nip of bourbon,  and talk to each other about their day on the road, about speed traps and state troopers, etc etc.

However the job is a very lonely job today thanks mostly to the Iphone.  At those same pic nic tables at a truck stop today, you might see 6 drivers sitting there,  eating dinner, but they are not talking to each other they are texting someone, far away, on their GD Iphone.  Go into the tv theatre at the big TA truck stop in Laredo, 15 drivers in there, only 2 of them are watching the movie.
Yes, the other 13 are texting somebody, far away on the Iphone.  You can't even talk to another driver about the movie that he is supposedly watching, because his attention is riveted to the Iphone.

These days truck driving is a very lonely job.  You need to be misanthropic to be a truck driver today.

    ps.  I hate Iphones.
