Hope I don't pay for this tomorrow

l push mowed the yard as well as the family cemetary. Got back to the house and the dang little chickens were roosting at the roof of the pole barn again.


Can't trust that something won't be waiting on the ground for them in the morning or that a hawk won't get one before they go to ground in the morning. So, my 59 year old butt climbed up there and got all 8 of them down. They're now snug in the coop for the night.

     looks like some wing clipping in order on the chickens before some one chimes in

    That Blue Heeler should be smart enough to round up those chickens.  Mine was very sharp (I swear smarter than me)

    Most dogs are smarter than most people.
    Have several big Red Tail hawks, there is a big dead oak tree sitting on a little ridge overlooking the landscape.
    Hawks will set side by side high in the tree, one faces east and the other west looking for dinner.

    I could see hawks getting the chickens.  My neighbor lost all of their ducks to hawks.

     I quit asking that question susie, I can tell by evening if I have overdone it, and I know I will pay for it next day, get up long hot shower and hope for the best.  good luck

    The heeler doesn't pay much attention to the chickens. He will stalk the rooster sometimes just for shiggles. Up this morning with another full day ahead of me. Gotta "to do" list a mile long. No lingering issues. Woohoo.

    Raising quail, hawks started liking them.  Lead virus got to the hawks.  No more hawks.  Owls showed up, put trap on top of a pole.  

    Susie, if you clip the chickens wings, clip only one side.
