A very interesting statement. No direct involvement rather than no involvement.
Also:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US was prepared to "use every tool" to try and bring back what appears to be two Americans detained by the Venezuelan regime after an alleged failed coup.
Why? If there was no US Government involvement, who the hell cares what happens to these two idiots?

Yep the days of overthrowing a government from the inside by a small force is over. Just look at Turkey for instance. Now you can be invaded by a friendly government next door for your cause and get away with it,if you have some natives to rely on like in Crimea. Even shoot down a passenger airliner or two and still walk free,
