Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg hospitalized for gallbladder condition
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon for "a benign gallbladder condition" that had caused an infection, according to Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg.
Ginsburg is expected to remain at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore for a day or two but still participate in the telephonic oral arguments Wednesday when the court will hear oral arguments in a case involving the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate.

The 87-year-old participated in questioning on Monday and Tuesday by phone during the court's first livestreamed proceedings.
ABC News confirmed that Ginsburg had been continuing her famous workouts during the pandemic at a special fitness space set aside for her inside the courthouse. In January, she declared that she is "cancer free."

She was most recently hospitalized in November 2019 when she was treated for a possible infection.

At her age and health, I do not understand why she would not step down. It could be that she is so politically motivated that she is waiting for a POTUS that would appoint someone like her.
It could be that she feels she is indispensable and must remain as long as possible.
It could be that she truly enjoys the job.
Bottom line is that judges are granted a life-time appointment and she can stay as long as she wants to stay. She probably does not have too many years left, so why not just live and let live?0 -

While I too wish no illness on anyone , it is apparent that she needs to retire . But as it is a lifetime appointment it is solely her choice . Hopefully she throws in the towel soon

Her mind seems to still be sharp, and her positions are consistent with what they have been for decades. The system in place is working as well as can be expected in an age of political idiocy, and there is little reason to change it.0
