Viper on the Driveway
I was going for my 3 mile walk with the Beagle today and I spotted this beast on the driveway. Is this a Mongrolian Cobra, or what?

Ditch runner, I have been bitten several hundred times by non-venomous snakes and have usually been pretty lax about cleaning or treatment. I have never had an infected bite. They can carry some pretty hot salmonella in their gut, but those are not transferred by bites.
Narrow headed garters (Thamnophis rufipunctatus) i.e. redspotted garter snake, which probably should be their common name, comes from NM, Arizona, and Mexico. I assisted field work years ago in conjunction NM Game and Fish biologists on the Rio San Francisco in SW NM. That population was wiped out by flash flooding on the river. There are a lot of thermal springs along the river and in winter we would find the garters under rocks close to springs where the ground was warm. They are small, rarely found one over 2 feet long.
I conclude then Allen that you live in the mountains of Mongrolia (sic). Does that make you a Mongrolian?
