Yes, got an O/U and for utility is has been perfect. Auto eject, single trigger with tubes. Great firearms for the money, imo.

Yep you're right. They're not going to win any beauty contests with their lumber fit and finish.

How much did you pay for that Smitty? (If you would care to share.)

Nice, by the way. I would like to own a 20" barrel SXS 12ga. Nice home gun.

I traded a Marlin Model 42, 12 GA Pump for it. One of the old exposed hammer models.

I've got a Baikal that looks just like yours.....except for it has the longer barrels. Fixed chokes - one full and one modified. Like you said, really stiff out of the box. In fact, mine is still a little stiff 20 years later, but I just haven't worked it that much. I really do like it, although I wish the chokes were not full/modified, but rather modified/IC.  In any case, a great little shotgun.....especially considering the price they used to go for before the period when Remington started selling them as "Spartans."

My local brought his in to sell a few years back. Can't remember if his had exposed hammers? I passed on it. I figured I'd get a coach gun if I really wanted one. I remember it being kind a beefy.
