One Magazine Rant
OK, you think if you buy a top of the line Colt Gold Cup (O5873A1), it would come with a spare magazine. NOPE!
Sure I would expect such with a plain Jane Colt manufactured 1911 that retails for half a grand less, but a Gold Cup?
Many of the less expensive 9s out there come with 2 mags. Pure BS. I can remember the days when you would get a spare mag. Last Keltec I bought had 2 spares. Rant over

Just bought a new Keltec P17 it came with 3 16rd mags. 0 -
The Walther PPK .22 I purchased earlier this year only came with one magazine. It was quite a surprise to me. 0 -
Any magazine feed unit needs at least 5 fully functional magazines, more would be better IMHO.
In today's world you need to check them. My sis's new M&P Shield magazines had burrs that prevented the follower from pushing rounds up when stripping them out by hand. 20 seconds with a file and some emery paper, the follower functioned properly.0 -

Have even contacted SW, Ruger, Keltec over the years about problems and the first thing they ask you is if you tried the spare or another mag.
From my basic mil training and applies to both rifles and pistols: The mag is the first thing to suspect if you have a jam or FTF.0 -

Though it looks new, it has a couple thousand rounds of various reloads down the pipe. Never a misfire. 0 -
well that sucks for the cost of the pistol and guessing what colt actually pays for a magazine it should be a no brainier to add at least one more
when I buy a new auto loader I buy a "few" extra magazines to go with it .
I remember as a kid most every one I knew that had one, had one magazine for the gun. including my dad he kept a 25 auto of one type or another his entire life but always just one magazine his last one I have, the magazine was still loaded (when mom gave it to me ) I would guess for 40 years or more . he had maybe 20 rounds of ammo for it0 -
Just checked my new made GC NM (5871) and it came with two Colt 8 rounders. 0 -
my newest colt I had bought came with two 0 -
all the new colts I bought in the past had two the springfields I think had 3 and another three or so free with a mail in offer
not saying it happened but I have heard of some dealers n "accidentally is a good word with out saying something bad ) leaving one out when they hand over the gun to the new owner
I would ask the dealer or contact colt they may / should send you one for free0 -
I remember the Crime Bill days, 1994-2004, and buying and selling at gun shows. It was dishonest, and I wouldn't do it, but lots of dealers, if they bought or traded for a pistol that had two standard capacity magazines, they would keep one back and sell it separately for an inflated price. I wouldn't do it. If the gun came with two magazines when it was new, and it had two with it when I got it, I sold it with two. Now if it had three, that was a different story.
Look on the bright side. It's a 1911, and magazines by Colt (not made by Colt) and other makers are everywhere, and cheap. I agree that it should have come with two, though.
I don't buy many guns to keep, and I surely don't buy many new ones. The last new Colt I bought was a Pony, and that was in around 1990. It came with two magazines, but I bought a couple of extras. The SIG P229 I was issued came with 3 magazines.
Yeah, a Gold Cup should have come with two or even three.0 -

Had a friend who bought a top of the line Colt Delta and he said it came with one mag.0 -
