Turkey Kill
I shot this bird on the 19th.
23 lbs, 10 1/4" Beard, 1" spurs.
I called him in from about 500 yards.
He had a buddy with him.
I had been using diaphragm calls that my son had gotten me for Christmas.
When they got behind me, I switched to the push button call.
I've never used it. It was my Dad's. I had just put it in my vest the night before for some reason.
Every time I used it, they gobbled and came closer.
The last time I called, one was directly behind me and one to my left, which is where I was set up to shoot.
The one to left stepped out into the field and at 16 yards got a 3" load of #6 copper plated pellets from my Benelli Super 90.
great hunt and great memories.

I bet that felt real good , knowing your Dads call got the job done

Nice bird! Haven't hunted them in about 7 years. We have one hanging around our bird feeder, but the wife won't let me shoot him. His name is Tim.

23 pounds is a BIG bird around here. He must have been the top dog. 0 -
He was, I’m guessing, a 2 year old bird with the size and shape of his spurs

Got 6 beards and a fan tail mounted in my office. Longest beard is just under 10". Most had 3/4"+ spurs and 21-22 pounds. You got a real good one

Nice. Some day I will have a fan on the wall. Coyotes in the area have decimated them around my little farm. 3 -
Congrats. Nice bird. 3 -
Susie-Possums are also a threat. They are real egg eaters. Coyotes are a bread of their own. If you do away with many in the area it just means the next years litters will have more to eat and the populations gets bigger again
