Messing With People...
At lunch time a few days later I saw him walking downtown on the mall and I spoke to him. I said "hey Gary how you doing? It's been a while. Where you keeping yourself at these days?" He spoke back trying to pretend he knew who I was while looking a little sheepish. I could see the cogs turning in his head trying to place who I was. Several times over the next few months I would see him out somewhere I would speak to him in passing. After a while if he saw me on the mall or where ever he would turn his head like he didn't see me and change directions or cross the street to keep from having to speak.
The guys I hung around with at work would always get a big laugh out of it.

I will do that while out driving, either someone standing at crosswalk or in car beside me at light, will wave and smile, wife hates it, but hey a guy has to have a hobby.......... or if they are looking our way will point to wife and just throw my hands up and shake my head 0 -
Heck hillbille, when I lived for a short time down in SW Virginia, everybody waved and smiled when you passed by! Thought it was the friendliest place on the planet! 0 -
It still is, brookwood.

Yeah. I agree. Wave and smile at someone up North (NY/NJ) They give you the finger.😮
A total dichotomy.
Happy to be back down South.

I loved it down there! The only problem was that many of the rural roads I traveled did not have much of a shoulder. I mean you are on a narrow two lane and no room for gawking with folks on the sidelines! The gutters are mostly down some pretty steep slopes so driving skills are pretty important. Had a place in Woodlawn between Galax and Hillsville for a few years. Close to a late buddy from the service. Loved the Blue Ridge!! 0 -
Galax and Hillsville, not too far away from me. (Closer to Jimdeere.)

Yup! Was only about 10 miles down hill from Mount Airy (Mayberry) NC. I met Andy Griffith there once back in 2001 or 2. 0 -

Ever do "The Snake" 421 from Mtn City, over in to Shady Valley, then down to Bristol? One of the top 10 motorycle roads in the Nation. A Mecca. Truly has to be driven to believe it.
I take out of Stater's on it and they are in Awe. Beautiful drive. Pay attention to the road.

Tried the snake and the dragon . Group of us used to do a fall ride every year . Somewhere from 10 to 15 of us who all rode together for 25 years or so

Many, many bikes down on that road over the years. Gouge marks on the seriously sharp turns everywhere in evidence, if you know what to look for. New riders going too fast and going in deep, with little regard as to exactly how sharp a turn they were coming in to.
Glad you have done it pulsarnc. Not to be missed, for anyone in this area. A TRUE mountain road.
Rivals anything out West.

Ken , I took it easy on the curves . A full dress touring bike , even one as sporty as the early generation Yamaha ventures , isn’t a bat out of hell !

Yrs back, after a night of partying, The driver, who might be the only one awake, would scream and yank up on the emergency brake at slower speeds. 0 -
One video I remember from Worlds Funniest videos, was a guy driving up behind a Semi being towed backwards by a wrecker or something. His wife was asleep in the passenger seat. He pulled in quite close, yelled out while grabbing her and hit the brakes. She wakes up to see the nose of a Semi ever so close while Hubby braked hard and yelled. Memorable. 😆
