    Our local radio interviewed a guy a couple weeks ago who warned of the same thing.

    Well I was sort of agreeing with him until he went off on "they" want to control your food supply. I sympathize with all ranchers and farmers that can't bring their goods to market. At the same time I find it hard to believe that "they" infected the processors and created the bottleneck. I am sure if these processors find out who "they" are you might find some extra ingredients in your hot dogs. If Tyson has 150 people in one plant infected did he expect them to not temporarily shut it down? Demand for some of the products is also down. No school - less demand for milk because a lot of baby mamas probably don't buy milk for their kids. The run on a lot of products is slowing down and store inventories returning but people are still eating the hamburger they bought 40 pounds of a month ago. I did agree with the get back to work part of his video but it will be a slow process to return to normal. If he is correct about Namibian beef then it was probably some entrepreneurs taking advantage of the situation. Capitalism at work. Look at all the brands of 22 ammo that you never heard of before that showed up during the shortage. Not sure what type of magic wand is needed but didn't see that he had a viable solution either.     The supply chain is stressed in a lot of industries.  The answer is to get things moving.
    On the plus side, watched a food bank story on the local news a couple of days ago.  Showed video of volunteers loading 50 Lb sacks of onions into the trunks of peoples cars as they drove by.  Some packing house found a way to unload product that would have normally gone to restaurants for a tax break, and the recipient will no doubt end up throwing 95%s of that product in the trash.

    There is about 200 head of cattle across the road.  I’m sure my neighbor won’t miss one !

     The point is we are destroying a livelihood to feed us and when it comes back many independent producers of food will be eliminated and it will  be concentrated in International Food Corporations. Not local Co-ops. Bad For Americans when oil and food is gone for good.
      The processors of meat are not giving out proper gear and instilling protection procedures. Another critical mistake by accident of course.

    Experts are saying ONLY export foods supply are at risk, NOT domestic food supply. 
    With this kind of spreading BS the run on store supplies is bound to happen, thus the prophecy is self fulfilling.

    The president has announced the meat processors will remain open under the defense production act. This should take some pressure off the farmers and ranchers but is it fair to the plant workers? Bob

    There's one he!! of a lot of meat in cold storage right now. We;re not going to run out soon but it's a possibility in another 6 months. If that happens the simple answer is to "nationalize" the foreign owned plants and push all their production to domestic use.  You folks who buy your beef had better make plans for some either high fat burger or "they starved to death and we butchered them" burger cause feedlots aren't able to just hold those animals forever.

    The plant workers will have to decide if they want to work or not, Bob.  
    How it is handled is up to the workers and the management at the plant.  
    Yes, it is fair.  We have to make choices every day.

    Actually I agree. My worry is the damage that can be caused no matter how stringent the efforts to protect the workers. If one plant that is forced to be open has a major outbreak, even when practicing strict virus protocols, who will be at fault? The company or the government that forced them to be open? I can see the headlines now, "Trump kills workers". Tyson and the other companies want to be open as it is costing them big bucks and I don't think the government had to get involved. I think Trump is just using this to make political points and if they hurry to open before implementing new safety standards what's a few employee deaths in the long run?😞 Bob

    My best friend and his brother are big farmers here. they farm almost 6000 acres. they have told a number of us that they are aware that there are a group of grocery conglomerates that are trying to get rid of the everyday farmer and the independent grain buyers ( middle man)  by buying as many tracts of farm land and grain companies  through corporations to control the markets  so they can control the food chain. the brothers have been saying this for a few years now.

    Latest news is the Smithfield pork plant in Sioux Falls SD is scheduled to re-open next Monday.

    Yes, May 11th they will start harvesting hogs.

    Looks like the DNC plan to fail the USA econ is about to fail. Like all the other crimes and misdemeanors they have implemented since Trump was elected... Shame on these traitors. Heap scorn and discredit on thier bodies and souls.

    Seems every time the news media starts the rumors about a certain item attained at a grocery store will become unavailable, a mad hoarding rush ensues and makes the rumor fact! :s
