A LEO can run the serial number on NCIC but if it hits someone will be asking about the gun.

I'll see if I can get the serial number and ask my Sheriff to run it for me / us.

Legally for a law officer to run a s/n, the firearm has to in their possession. If it hits, bye bye firearm.

I would take any Bonnie & Clyde association, with a very healthy dose of salt. Only two of the lawman involved in the B & C ambush. Were armed with semi-auto rifles. Both Remington Model 8's.

Your money, of course. But I sure as heck wouldn't drop a couple of grand on a 1905 Winchester. With a very questionable background.

Incidentally the 1905, was chambered for the 35 Winchester self loading cartridge. Not the much more powerful, 351 Winchester self loading. Which was much more commonly used, by various law enforcement agencies. Except in the B & C shootout.

    It's a 351 Win.
I may just stay the heck away from it though.

Link to previous thread - pics are gone.

The receiver was engraved with the name Detective Lairmore.

Seems the recent owner that passed away was the town drunk but his father was somewhat of a genius and this gun may have come from him.
