Ruger single six has been around for a few decades and is hard to beat. About 550 bucks on the auction side. Ruge r now has the Wrangler for less than $200 also. I haven't had my hands on one yet. Might be worth a look. Bob 3 -
Ruger Wrangler all day. Feels just like a Single Six( same grip frame). And right at $200. I held one and want one. It doesn’t have a high polish blue like a Single Six but also doesn’t have the price tag either. Heck you can buy 2 Wranglers for the price of 1 Single Six. Three color options. It doesn’t have a .22 Mag cylinder option at the moment though.

I would argue that Freedom Arms produces the single most impressive .22 rimfire SAA Colt clone revolver ever made by multiple orders of magnitude...
A once in a lifetime legacy grade firearm - a treasured talisman.

Only one I have says Colt Peacemaker on it. Two cylinders- LR and Magnum. Gets the job done, but have not seen many of them. 0 -
My Heritage Arms and my Hawes and my Great Western and north American arms and herters .22 rimfire Colt SAA patent infringement clone cowboy style revolvers all get the job done - some are better quality than others - and while I tend to like odd affordable vintage guns sometimes it's nice to have the best or pursue one iconoclastic make as a goal or desire...

Another to keep in mind is the Uberti cattleman or Stallion. Looks just like it's big brother right around 500.00

I purchased a Ruger Wrangler a few months ago. Finally got around to trying it last week. The action tends to lock up when I cock the hammer. I need to send it back to Ruger. I am sure they will fix it, just a pia though.

Ruger Single Six. I have Uberti, I have Colt, I have a Single Six in stainless. That is the one to beat. The wrangler is zinc alloy, no doubt better than a Raven, but I have a lifetime of avoiding zinc alloy. 0 -
I have the Heritage Roughrider and the Ruger. Select Fire hit the nail on the head. My beat around gun is the Roughrider, it has a safety lever by the hammer that the Ruger doesnt. For inexpensive with a mag cyl you cant beat it. It is far from poor quality. You arent out much if for some reason you dont like it, you can always spend more money. 0 -
The one I first shot back in 1959 looks like a single action but it's a High Standard Double Nine. Holds 9 rounds instead of 6. This one has had many thousands of rounds run though it and it still shoots like a new one. 0 -

Here is a review of the Ruger Wrangler:Bear in mind that this was written for BUNS & WHAMMO magazine so it's definitely slanted in favor of the manufacturer who is a major advertiser.How do they make it so cheap?Zinc and aluminum castings. Just like those cheap Italian copies, steel for the barrel and cylinder though. Then they paint it with Cerakote to hide the machining and casting flaws. They actually claim this as an improvement over other makers because it hides the flaws with paint.
In reality though, they are trying to compete with those foreign models and the rampant influx of the inexpensive semi-autos flooding the market these days.
So pick your budget but I would run away from the Wrangler and buy a good revolver for years of trouble-free use.

+1 on the Heritage SAA .22 rimfire colt cowboy revolver clones.
During the gunshop days I hooked up with them very early and we had received a stocking dealer sample of 8 revolvers and due slips for two special order guns / ie we could order two guns to our spec and have them within 90 days...
No they are not freedom arms or great western or colt quality - but for the money you get a two cylinder package that can be quite useful.
I have been a cautious fan for awhile.

If you want a six gun to slap around and play with, quick draw. fan, what ever, then get a cheap clone with the grooved receiver sight. Smooth to the hammer so it don't eat up your hand and thumb. Have fun with it, replace parts when needed and throw it away if it gets too bad.
If you want good adjustable sights and accuracy then step up the budget. The Ruger with six inch barrel and two cylinders is a good package and is what I give my sons. I like the stainless with rose wood grips. If you are going 22lr only and being a six shot isn't important you may want to consider one of the ten shot models.0 -
Ruger Single Six for sure.
I've handled a Wrangler and I do like the feel of them.
I don't like the non adjustable sights.
I have thought about getting one just for a stay in the truck gun.
If you look real hard, you can find a used Single Six for under $300.
The last used one I picked up had both cylinders and the box and I gave $250 for it.0 -

The best value is the Heritage. I have 3 which I have got off GB, all brand new. Accurate, reliable and cheap. The last one I bought was $125 delivered. ($75+ $50 shipping and FFL). A real bargain. From what I have seen, used ones hold their value well; a good used one will be nearly what a new one would cost. 0 -

I had a K-22 classic, 6" full under lug. Was very heavy and was a wonderful shooter. I'm fitting a spare cylinder I bought for $10 with the crane to my model 53 Jet. With the inserts its a PIA to shoot 22 LR in the Jet but it does so very accurately. 0 -
