His older cousin Maverick is suspect this is a good arrangement.

There is zero risk in that. So little so, I wonder why it's a concern you would raise.0 -
Awww... There just aren't many things in this world cuter than a lab puppy!
Looks like he's already got the duck fetchin' thing figured out!3 -
Hello Goose 0 -
Happy to see there's no chance he'll grow up to be spoiled!

Hey Goose!
This reminds me of the time my brother, cousin and I were duck hunting from a boat. I was sitting in the rear, facing back, when my brother yelled, "Duck!" Like a dummy, I was looking around for a duck when a mallard drake hit me square in the back, nearly knocking me into about 20 feet of icy water.0 -
Howdy Goose...happy hunting! 0 -

I love labs, great dogs.

I've shot a lot of birds over labs. Do you hunt with them? 0 -

This one I will. I'm looking at doing this program with him https://www.cornerstonegundogacademy.com/0 -

Nice looking pup. Congrats. Love me some dogs.

Good luck with the program. If the dog has the talent and ability all it needs is opportunity. Provided they have a good regime and give the pup the time a professional trainer will give the pup more opportunity than most of us have time for.
What birds are available in your area?0 -

Time to get one of these. saves your back, lets them run further. Son's dog loved the "glow it the dark" ball for moonlight exercise!

I'm considering retiring to Idaho in a few years. Primarily for the hunting and amount of public lands. I know there are several species of game birds to hunt as well as large game and other critters. Bird hunting with dogs is my favorite hunting. There's not much bird hunting here anymore. We used to have decent quail numbers and some years enough ruffed grouse in the hills to make them worth it. Now about all my bird hunting is done in South Dakota, when I can get there.
One of my sisters lives in Spokane. Maybe in a few years we'll get together and dust some feathers.3
