    Messed around with them in my younger days . I was pretty proficient with them at one time . Always wanted a high quality Australian whip but just could not make myself spend that much money .

    My Papa made whips and sold them all his life. I grew up rolling them and popping them. I still have one of his whips that he made. He died in 1970 and the whip still looks new. I can pop just about any whip. Don

    Used to play around with the cheaper flea market leather ones.  I watched too many cowboy movies I suppose.

    Took a lot of practice, but I use to be pretty good with one. When I got good enough, Horseflies on the wall, and flying Bumblebees didn't have a chance. If you want to try your skill, I can give you some good advice.
    Do it in a wide open space, don't practice on your Mom's flowers, and dress like you're going to a paintball match! A 12ft bullwhip with a 2ft stinger can open skin like a straight razor. You don't want to find that out the way I did!

    Had one in my younger days. Got so I could cut a playing card in half. Mom and Dad took me to State Fair outside Richmond in 50's to see Lash LaRue as I recall. He was the Master.

    Bullwhips are braided leather.  If you remember Lash La Rue, you are way too old to be messing with that S uh Stuff.

    We have two that a Buddy in Molt Montana made....
    To put it simply, "I ain't no Lash LaRue".
    But they are a great training aid to get mules and horse steady to the sound of gun shots.

    I envy the people that can really work one.

    Somewhere around here I have a box and some mixed loose examples of the US .45 autorim cavalry training blanks - the most distinctive super constricted bottleneck cases you ever did see...

    They do make a louder than normal pronounced crack when fired.

    And there are some 4-n-1 blanks in a red and green Remington dogbone sleeve stashed away somewhere...

    My grandfather had a horse he would take hunting and to run the trap and snare lines that they conditioned to firearms discharge noise but that was a long time ago.

    Had not thought about the crack of a proper whip in those regards / in that framework...

    One of those things I look up after seeing movies like "Raiders" that I haven't given up on like I did with the Sharps ("Quigley Down Under" eyes going and needing scope).
