Helped a Vet this morning

On my way to town this morning. Get a call so I pull off the highway in a clear area. This Ford focus pulls around me and a old guy gets out. I get off the phone. He  walks up and is lost. So he ask where the interstate is going to Chapin ,SC.. He has his phone, hands it to me , his son is on it. Son says Dad has dementia a WWII Vet and has  driven up from Florida..not suppose to be driving.. I meet his son at the Lowes parking lot where his Dad followed at about 50mph on the interstate.... They have someone else to drive the car.

    Select Fire, thanks for helping a fellow Vet. My neighbor( 93) three houses down walked down my driveway few years back. Said he was lost and could not find his house. Got ladder from his garage and climbed thru upper back window and unlocked his door. Poor guy was crying. Sad.

    One of the saddest things I have witnessed in my many stays in the hospital...

    Had a nice gentleman in the next room who was a marine vet and in his late 80's - a touch of dementia or early onset Alzheimer's - exhibiting sundowning - he would forget to eat for days or forget to take his meds when scheduled and then try to catch up by taking the missed pills all at once...

    Not helping his battle with respiratory issues either.

    We had a power outage and the generators did not kick on right away at least on our ward though I am told that in critical areas things were okay...

    When the lights went out I could here him as he tried to get out of bed and fell knocking over his IV stand.

    When he fell he started to call out "corpsman".

    It was stunningly heart wrenching - I managed to get out of bed and get to him and he was simply somewhere else - wounded in combat somewhere sometime and calling for help.

    Jesus wept.

    Good job!!  I think I would have done the same.  
    When I saw the topic I wondered what you were helping the vet with.  My first thought was helping the veterinarian pull a calf.   :p
    I am often not on the same page as everyone else!!

    I had a similar encounter two years ago . Fellow was lost and I finally figured out he was 200 miles from his home . He had left home to go to his girlfriends house about a mile from his home . Got in contact with his family and made arrangements to have him picked up .

      Hardly a coincident, God works in mysterious ways, just my opinion. Great for you.
