Chicken Vienna Sausage/ VS. Regular Vienna Sausage -
All they had left. The couple right before me grabbed a whole case of the regular. 24 can case. I looked at them like "Really," when they took them all. Pretty much all they had. (59 cents/can.)
The Chicken are much saltier, not as good. (Bought 3 cans.) Okay in an emergency I guess.

we have a few cans on hand throw back to when we were kids I guess , me and dogs even the wife like them for a chance of pace food
Ok short story on the sausage skip if you want will not hurt my feelings ....
my grandfather on dads side I only seen him a few times when I was younger ( WWI vet ) anyway dad told me grandpa had just a couple teeth left, his staple food was Vienna sausage and crackers . he had to hide them so my cousins would not eat them all
oh! his other staple was beer ( LOL ) I remember around 1969 - 72 time frame my dad told me his dad had the electric turned off I think his electric bill jumped to like 3.00 a month his dad said that would get two more six packs, I remember he had a single light bulb in a couple rooms the only electric things he had , he went to bed at dark up with the sun , his stove and cook stove were wood / coal water came from a well with a bucket and rope . always had a garden and canned a lot . he lived the basic life for sure as many of my southern relatives .0 -
Don't know about the chicken Vienna's, but I bought the last can of spam on the shelf a couple weeks ago. It was the turkey spam and my thoughts at the time of purchase was "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush" 
Well! Opened it up last weekend and fried it along with a couple of eggs. Even crispy on the outside, the inside was over salted mush and I swear some pin feathers were detected by my teeth!!0 -
Pass. Those little fragments of bone annoy me. Like in chicken hot dogs. FDA allows as much as 10% bone in chicken dogs. Don't want to think what else goes in with all that bone. 0 -

Buzzkill II.
Not a regular staple. Have a few around for a quick snack/SHTF. Realized last evening I had not eaten all day. Had been on the run and on the road all day getting my Mom transferred from the Hospital in Boone, to the Rehab facility in Elizabethton. Discharging Hospital was over two hours behind promised/anticipated discharge time. (Good thing we had coordinated all this in advance.) Grabbed a can just to get some protein (bone, peckers and lips) in me. Better than nothing. Just wanted to sit down. A long day.

Thanks Bob. No worries. I was not offended in the least. I appreciate the kind words. Mom is doing pretty darn good considering she is 90. All the Nurses were talking about, "no way are you 90."
2 hour delay at the Hospital. (After an hour drive each way to the Hospital.) Two hour drive each way to the rehab facility. 2-3 hours worth of paperwork, and getting Mom settled in. Things Mom wanted taken care of at her house afterward etc. A long day.
I was laying in bed this AM, going - " Did I start a thread on Vienna sausage? WTH was I thinking?"

Yes Ken! The Spam made with pork meat is what Spam was designed for. The use of turkey just isn't Spam IMO. More like FOUL mush meat. I honestly thought frying it would at least make it more Spam like. But, alas, NO! 0 -
Yeah, well the Chicken Viennas rate right up there with Turkey SPAM, I would imagine Brookwood.
Much prefer the originals.

And TabascoMy brother and I stopped by my mom's house after a duck hunt. I was starving and pilfering in the kitchen. There was a package of what looked like jerky on the counter. I grabbed several pieces and popped them in my mouth and started chewing. They were horrible, I spit them out and asked mom how old they were, She just died laughing, they were dog treats.So, I have tasted dog treats, Turkey Viennas are MUCH better.If you don't eat them your dog should approve.

There is a story of a guy coming home drunk. Ate a couple tins of what he thought was "Potted meat." When he woke up in the morning, several cans of opened cat food were on the counter. 😂
(And) Tcatt, you've not experienced culinary delight, until you (because you can't see, prior to Eye surgury.) have popped a Stink Bug, in your mouth because you thought it was morsel left on the couch.
Not recommended, by the way.

They are not "Horrible," just not as good as the Originals.
Kinda salty. Clear liquid as opposed to the "gel," you get in the originals. Worked out good for Buddy. He liked the juice over some dried food.
If I had a choice, and they were both there, I'd go with the Originals.
Selfish couple in front of me, grabbed the full case of 24. I gave them a look of "Seriously," when they did that. Probably didn't phase them at all.

Didn't have any Veee-ennies here, but remembered some Russian pate in my ration collection that is at its use by date. Some of it comes in foil pouches just like single-serve tuna or Spam singles. Squozed one out on some bread, with Gulden's mustard and some chopped green onion. Those people know how to make that stuff. Delicious. 0 -
Those single serve pouches, if you glance at the price per pound, are rediculous.
Might as well buy a T-bone. I always compare price per pound. Frugal like that.
Kinda like you can buy a 16-20oz. Cold coke for $1.49, or a (not cold) 2 litre for .99cents. Seriously?

I'm sure I could buy a hogshead of it for pennies a pound - but I only need 2.5 ounces of it to make a sandwich. And there I am with an opened hogshead and three hundredweight of it spoiling. 0 -
Reminds me of the Great Outdoors Movie with John Candy, trash panda's commenting on the contents of their lunch box.But a can of old fashion vieenies and pork and beans on the river bass fishing, yum yum, we call them fish dinners.Beans and weenies in same can, yuck.Had a fellow near hear went blind eating pork and beans.

Love me some King Oscar double layer, brisling Sardines. Got a'hem , ......................a few on hand.
Bust out the cheap SHTF saltine crackers. Lots of cheap Sardines on hand also. Mustard, Mediterranean, Louisiana, Smoked w/Olive oil, etc.
Good stuff.
While I have about 10-15 cans of Treat, that is low on the hog, eating. (Compared to SPAM.)
I might have a few cans of that on hand, also. 😉

Anytime I packed Sardines/crackers, cheese etc. to lunch at work. Got almost as many looks as when I packed Sushi, Wasabi/Ginger, soy sauce, and a pair of chop sticks.
