I know its just a movie...........

  watching she wore a yellow ribbon on tv.  almost all the scenes where they are out in the desert seems just as soon as someones horse starts running you hear a dog bark, this dog has barked for the last 3 days, gotta figure someone would have shot it to keep it quite after the first indian sighting............

   some of you older guys, any first hand knowledge????????

      more along the lines of calvary experience ........    we do have a few real old guys here

    If Indians can't see a troop of cavalry coming across Monument Valley they are in the wrong line of work. In the movie dogs were with the troop when leaving the fort. Don't know if the real cavalry had dogs along or not but did seem like one of those nice little touches the director adds to his movies.

    Notice everything slides out of the wagon going up the steep hill?
    Great movie.  Ben Johnson didn't need a stunt double.

    Yes! May have been an accident while filming but John Ford left it in. His movies have lots of little incidents not needed for the story but give them character and a sense of realism. Doubt if Indians lived in Monument Valley but what a spectacular place to look for them. Big smiles when the troops were riding out to rollicking 'Yellow Ribbon" and the dogs cavorting about, as dogs will when off on a new adventure.
