    Alien NC bought it. Those NC folks like their firearms. I have the exact one..with a po lice barrel ported along with a hastings 36" france wadlock barrel that won't pull that kind of money.

    I really don't get it. For God's sake it's an express. Remingtons bottom of the barrel production made to compete with the cheap imports. Probably the plastic magazine follower and poorly polished chamber that is prevalent on these models. When I was selling guns these were at the top of the list for being sent back because of shells sticking in the chamber or the follower blocking the lifter. If it was a much better built wingmaster it still wouldn't be worth anywhere near that. I guess the seller should be ecstatic that the stimulus is working. Just don't tell the buyer he could have had 2 or 3 for that price. Bob

      even a 18 to 20 inch  12 ga barrels  are selling crazy prices 
    I  would have never guessed a express in that configuration would pull down that kind of money  wow  one smiling seller I am sure 
    I have a few but will just keep them there not eating any  thing and would not be the first time I missed the wagon on selling for crazy prices

    I have one that has a Hastings rifled slug barrel mounted on it - with the cantilevered scope mount - it wears a Leopold compact vari X shotgun scope...

    Has a trigger shoe and after market furniture from Boyd's - a blue and grey laminate thumb hole stock and matching fore end...

    Also has an off brand red dot optic that was pretty affordable as I bought it on close out - and it works quite well...

    It does retain the original wood and factory barrel - and comes with a double sided hard case to keep everything together...

    I have no earthly idea what it's worth or what it would bring at auction - but the component elements are pretty expensive...

    Any ideas on approx value or desirability???

    Is it a well thought out set up - is there demand or interest in one customized this way???

     did a quick check  seemed to be  few more 12 ga short barrel 870's for sale at 1/4 the price 
    I am guessing like posted it may be a no show ( paying )  winner  just in a peeing contest

    My dad purchased a Remington 20 ga. Wingmaster in 1960 for me for $50. I guess that would be equivalent to about 4 or $500 today. I shot a lot of dove with that gun until it was stolen in the late 60s.

    I had a 20 gauge Wingmaster C grade that was stolen in the 80s. Loved that 870 and never found one I liked to replace it. Wingmasters are a totally different critter than the express series. The express is the same design but executed cheaply both in materials and care of assembly. Bob

    Yep, I remember the old Wingmasters and the Model 12 Winchesters made after the 2nd WW. Sure miss quality like that. Many are still around: A testimony of how well they were made.
     What passes as quality by both these manufacturers as pump guns today is junk.
