considerate seller....
I couldn't begin to recall how many times I've seen an item description stating "actual cost" for the shipping price. Never know if it's the actual shippers cost, or the price of materials, labor etc. included, and the reason I always contact them before placing a bid. I like how this seller included the info in his description..

I dont know about GB but I do know from our business shipping on FedEx there are too many variables to state an exact cost for a shipment. Location, business or residential addreess, insurance etc are just some of the "many" questions we get asked when setting up a shipment. If we have to give a fixed cost it is usually higher because it is impossible to "guess" all of the variables. 0 -
I also ALWAYS ask about such BEFORE bidding.
sellers do not even know yet where they might be mailing the item, so you the buyer can get a surprise if you don't ask first. If you as a bidder do not ask it's not the sellers fault.0 -
When I list a gun, I always put, I will charge the exact shipping price. If it is 32.93 , That is what I charge. I get a direct quote from my shipper. I give him the exact sizes and weight , and he gives me a price. I don't think I ever charged more than 35 dollars to ship a gun. Last one I shipped was 28 bucks from NJ to Arnold MO. That was last Thursday. 0 -
I don't bid unless I know the shipping costs. I have purchased many items on GB and don't bid on actual cost auctions. One thing I do is check the description to see if they have a set rate on shipping. If they do I will bid. 3 -
Current strategy in the business world is, "It is more satisfying to beat a customer out of two dollars than honestly earn twenty dollars."That seller must be an old timer. My hat is off to him.

No shipping cost listed==No bid! 0 -
I paid $18 shipping on a small 1 inch wide, 6 inch ling item that weighed about 2 oz. The box it came in was an 8 x 8 x 8 box filled with paper and the very small item. Item was shipped from Biloxi Miss to central Ala, about 300 miles. I checked the shipping cost - $5.57. 0 -
I mark my shipping price. If its over what the actual price is I refund the difference. If under most times I end up eating the difference. 0 -
Thus far I have never been hit for more than about $2-3 above what the shipping cost. I figure that covers box, tape packing, etc. More than once the shipping cost has been several dollars above what I paid. 0
