My Home Bowling Alley
the one that my high school kids practiced at and I bowled at on Tuesday nights has a Sunday special. A pound of ham, 6 rolls a big bag of chips and dip and a free bowling pin. They replaced all their pins back in Feb. so they've got a couple of thousand laying around. They do male good targets.

For a brief time we held bowling pin competitions at my local club. Light target loads would clear the pin off of the table but jacketed bullets were better than all lead. It was a little disconcerting when a lead 45 came straight back and hit me in the middle of the chest. Felt a thump but no pain and finished clearing the pins. After the last pin fell I looked down and there was a flat piece of lead a little bigger than a quarter laying at my feet. I must have hit the belly of the pin perfectly square in the center and it bounced the bullet straight back. I switched to jacketed and never had the problem again. It also seemed like a jacketed flat or hollow point would transfer energy better when a marginal hit on the edge of the pin happened. Kind of like it dug in instead of deforming and ricocheting faster. BobRicci.Wright said:They make fantastic targets but produce lots of rik o shays.0 -
