If man can reduce global warming.....

Wouldn't this event be a excellent example of our ability to actually impact climate change?
I can't imagine mankind legislating anything near as far reaching as this shut down so if we get no data of change does that prove it a moot point?

    The current decrease in "observed" pollution does not equate a slowing of global warming.  A few months is not enough to effect change.  AND, you would have to accept the premise that our last 150 years of industrialization has actually increased global temperatures as opposed to millions of years of global fluctuations while we were stumbling around attempting to recreate fire.

    I live almost on the 41st. parallel here in the United States, at one time around 10,000 years ago, there was about 100 to 150 foot of ice right where I live; what happened to it?  That's right the planet got warmer, and before the ice age it was warmer, this is what a planet does. All weather is a direct result of the sun, not because we burn fossil fuels or coal being burned, it may add to pollution, but not to any kind of climate change. The largest green house gas is water, I guess we could drain the oceans, but I don't know where we could store the water. It amazes me that people can really believe that man is capable of changing the weather, because if that were true we could have perfect weather all year round. Now on a political way of thinking you could say, we're going to tax these things that cause climate change, such as cows farting, power plants, and maybe even jet travel, and there are some that might think that we are at fault for the sun acting as it does, but they just can't find a way to blame us for that one as easy, -- yes it is easier to blame us for pollution and call it climate change and tax us on that.

    Actually there is data showing that a real change can occur in a fairly short time. Remember the reports of how clear the skies were, and how the air pollution dropped immediately after the 9-11 incident due to all the planes being grounded? At night you could see the stars in places they were unseen for decades. And right now, the Himalayas are visible from places in India where they have not been seen in over 30 years.
