Locust Fork storm damage. Were ok, the area is a MESS though.
it got "interesting" yesterday afternoon and we lost power somewhere around 5pm. I lit candles and waited for things to calm down. It cleared up a bit after 6...just before it started to get dark. Limbs were everywhere and my road seemed to have more traffic than usual. I saw a post about power lines being down and figured people were using our road to avoid that. I figured we would go to bed and the power would be restored sometime soon.
When I got up this morning and the power was still not on i figured it was worse than I realized. I woke Larry and told him to go dig the generator out of the barn and I was going to run up the road and get us some coffee.
They had the highway blocked and were directing traffic around a long stretch where all the trees were blown down....what a mess. I got to jacks and traffic was lined up down the street.....everyone without power, everyone needing coffee.
On the way back I got a better look of my own road. There was a tree down in every yard but mine....the house on the corner has at least 20 down all around his place. The power lines are on the road in several places. I got home and tried to wrap my mind around what I needed to do.
We got the generator going and ran cords to the freezer and fridge. Shelby came on to work and did some filing. I sent word to please see if Gun Broker could have someone send a message out to last night's winners letting them know there is a delay, but everything is ok.
I just saw a post someone made showing where Alabama Power is saying power will be restored around midnight April 15th. I dont think i can sit here listening to the generator that long! It could be worse.
Were all ok though.....which is what really matters.

With all you have to do, thanks for taking time to check in. So glad you're O.K. 0 -
Glade everyone is okay. I was thinking of you as I watched the weather last night so is good to hear all is okay. Hopefully auction winners check this forum and will know what has happened. They can chill for a bit. I won an auction on 3/31 item just shipped Friday. Seller posted that shipping was going to be delayed up to 10 days. 0 -
Glad you are ok. Stay safe. Prayers sent for all those who have been hit by the latest round of storms to move through. 0 -
Good the hear you are unscathed.
Friend in Louisiana sent some photos of some roadways, looked like a bunch of drunk loggers had a tree felling competition.

Glad to hear you're ok 0 -
Gotta have the coffee. I will build a fire in the backyard if necessary and boil grounds in a pot, but coffee before all.
Glad you all made it.0 -
glad you and yours are safe 0 -
Glad you guys are ok. I was sitting here playing on the tablet Sunday afternoon and had the Weather Channel on. I heard someone say “...Birmingham, Locust Fork,...”. I thought, “Hey! I’ve heard of that place.” 0 -
Glad you and your's are okay. Time and effort will take care of the rest. I use my camp stove to make coffee when the power is out, which happened here last week. 0 -
Its been a strange day.....its gorgeous outside. The sun was bright and just enough chill in the air to pep you up a bit, everything is really green too. You couldn't ask for a prettier day. Looking around at the damage and people with face masks on just doesn't meld with this weather at all. Adding that strange scene to the fact that I'm unable to deal with the LARGE number of auctions and I'm pretty much just sitting here watching strange cars go by while 20 or so of my neighbors cows munch on my grass (his pasture fence is down) is just an odd feeling

They are still saying it will be midnight tomorrow before we get power. I have no clue if the phones and internet will be up once we have power. We are planning on working this weekend to get things caught up. I sure hope there aren't further delays past what they are expecting

Glad to hear you're all OK!
The rest is just "stuff".

My generator doesn't start-up automatically. I have to roll it out & plug it in. However, the sub-panel has a kitchen circuit so I can run the coffee pot. 0 -
Wooooooo Hooooo!!!! I am back up and running.
