Weird Email this morning
I have some ammunition advertised on a SC website. Get an email this morning at 4.30 wanting to purchase it. Funny area code so I respond where are you located... Ft. Jackson in Columbia. My understanding is that folks on base cannot have firearms.. ... Am I wrong?

My brother was a drill sgt at Ft. Jackson, but he did not live on the base.
In Lemoore, CA we had full access to the ranges on base, the gun had to be “registered” with base security- but then it could go on/off base without disclosing it. We had a really large skeet/trap league.
Area codes are a thing of the past. I have a Maryland area code, and I moved away in 2012.

Same here, and I got out in 84'.
Perhaps it was just the high security base I was on, per the base Commander?
On our base, they were checked in at the main gate MP Rock Castle, (Literally.) and kept in their Armory. One of only two ways on base. Both manned by Armed MP's 24/7.

I purchased a Beretta 92 Compact off a sgt. yrs. ago that was stationed there. He met me off base and said he could not have it on base. Maybe the rules have changed. 0 -
1980-1987 I had guns at every duty station but one. We weren't allowed firearms or personal motor vehicles when assigned to LSU/MFO Sinai. 0 -

My friend lived in a house on a stateside USAF SAC base back in the 1980s. He is a gun enthusiast, and had a bunch of them in his home. I have carried a sidearm on USAF, USN, and USArmy bases with no difficulty. 0 -
