    Depends on where the water comes from originally. Remember, if you are on a public sanitary system, #1, or #2, all get mixed together in the end. If it's ground water (deep water wells), then maybe, after it has been cleaned, filtered, ph re balanced and released back to its normal course, and makes its way back to where it came from. Surface water sources,such as lakes or reservoirs, have different considerations. They don't allow any re use water into their areas, and only allow natural in flows to fill them up. They still need to be filtered, and/or chlorinated to meet the current state/utility standards. So to answer your question, yes, it does return back from where it came from, but not as easily as it seems...

    Colorado was drilling town wells to 1500 feet deep.  They are mining fossil water.  Nothing is replacing that.  

    Here in VA, 120 ft well.  Ground water seeps thru the clay, refills well.  Colorado is going to run out of water- sometime.

    When the earth was formed there was just so much water . At times it covered vast areas of land that are now above sea level because of rising land mass. We still have the same amount of water on the earth as we did at day one . Nothing has changed in the amount of water. Usage changes as population grows and shrinks

    Yup we still have pretty much the same amount of water as day 1. The problem is location and whether or not it is potable. Mankind has had a tendency to fowl it's own nest. There is a lot less potable water than there used to be. Bob

    Nobody really knows where all the planet's water came from, but it came long after the orb formed. We still get some from space in the form of icy meteors, but we lose some back to space as vapor, also. What is true is that every drop we drink has been recycled hundreds if not thousands of times through other organisms. (If you are squeamish, just imagine that all yours has been through only plants. But the rest of us know better.)

    Always looked at water from a chemical perspective. If you have Hydrogen which is the most common element in the universe along with Oxygen, water will form naturally. Oxygen has a valence of 6 and Hydrogen a valence of 1, so Oxygen will naturally attract 2 hydrogens and form a water molecule dependent on temperature and pressure. 
    Water molecules are electron negative meaning each molecule is in itself a magnet, thus they attract other water molecules.

    Actually, new water is formed every time fuel is burned. the amount formed depends on the type of fuel burned. Every time you burn, say, 20 gallons of gasoline in your car, you create just about that same volume of new water that disappears out your tail pipe into the atmosphere. Ask a chemist friend to do the stochiometric calculation for you.
