How are cities with huge homeless population doing?
-
CA moving them into hotels & motels, expecting the Feds (taxpayers) to pay most of cost. Personally think they are better off outside rather than crowded into shelters. Especially with the warming weather. 0 -
can you just imagine what those hotel/motel rooms are gonna look and smell like in a few day??????? most of these folks just don't care.... bet the taxpayers get stuck with the room bill and the clean up/repair billsgartman said:CA moving them into hotels & motels, expecting the Feds (taxpayers) to pay most of cost. Right - but are we seeing death counts higher than their day to day counts? I’d ASSume that with the virus, those folks would be dropping like flies. But I haven’t heard about that. Are we being BS’d by our government? 0 -
weary not sure but my guess would be they don't even have a realistic count of these homeless folks, most should have good immune system living in the filth they do, and for most part keep the distance from themselves and the general population, I don't think law enforcement even goes in these homeless camps so who would really know the death count 0 -
They were filthy, disease-ridden addicts and alkies pooping in the streets and living like sewer rats before all this started. By their own choice, largely. Why exactly should they be treated better than furloughed workers and business owners? 3 -
WearyTraveler said:How are the cities with huge homeless populations doing? I’d expect that with them all living close and without sanitation or medical, that the homeless would be suffering a large percentage of sickness and death. However, I’ve been reading a bunch of “news” articles on drudge and a bunch of conservative sites. I haven’t seen any articles with numbers reflecting the homeless population. Anyone have info?
News is only being reported if it benefits the DEMOCRAT party politically.,0 -
Over here a couple of weeks ago they said they were gonna put them into a Super 8 Hotel. This is two blocks from where I worked. Drove by there the other night and no activity was visible. Then over the last week the Army Corp of engineers set up a 200 bed hospital at the main pavillion at the Wisconsin State Fair grounds here. In Madison there gonna do the same thing at the Alliant Gas Energy center. 0 -
O.K.I'll be the first to say it. Regarding the homeless that made a life choice that put them in this position - I can't seem to work up a whole lot of concern for them. For the minority that were thrown into homelessness I hope they get some help. For the cities that allow and even encourage the homeless plague of filth and drugs, once again I don't really care about their problems. They caused it, so let them fix it without the help of the rest of us. It's like constantly fixing your kids problems, they never learn if you do. Bob 6 -
Spot on, Bob. 0 -
homeless or illegals or just plain trash offer a tempting target for fancy suits to get well paid by playing with large sums of money taxed from those that work and is intended for good deeds 0 -
Lots of posts here but no one has anyone got numbers of homeless deaths? We’re hearing counts, updated hourly, about everyone else. I’d ASSume that the homeless are more susceptible and should be dropping like flies... 0 -
My understanding was that fema was purchasing or using eminent domain to take ownership of motels and hotels in rough neighborhoods that had already closed or gone out of business or were standing empty...
The places that survive on and cater to the underground sex trade and drug trade - frequented by transients and parolees and illegal immigrants and drug addicts and prostitutes...
How they planned on running such facilities or obtaining occupation / habitation certificates - managing and supervising and keeping the places clean and providing utilities I cannot grasp...
And how do you feed these folk or provide daily needed items...
Seems to me that putting all your bad eggs in one basket - placing all your marginal folk or bad actors together in such proximity is fraught with peril and a bad idea generally...
Much of the homeless encampment - blue tarps and shopping carts makeshift highway overpass groupings result from a supreme court case that focused on "camping"...
The courts ruled that you could not remove someone who was "camping" unless you had a place to put them that was better than their camp and met certain minimum standards and had enough capacity for approx 120% of the estimated total population of homeless / campers...
For some reason that escapes me many shelters do not meet the standards or are affiliated with a place of worship or specific religious creeds which prevents them from being counted or utilized...
Los Angeles and San Francisco are examples of democratic policies gone wild - and yes there is even an app that shows homeless concentrations and tracks public open air defecation deposits...
Illnesses thought to have been eradicated in first world tier one countries have started to come back along with parasitical infections / infestations...
Allowing these homeless camps to exist and the public pooping to occur is sheer lunacy - a high percentage of these folk are mentally ill or drug addicts or alcoholics and chain smokers - have a poor diet and don't receive proper dental or medical care...

Wonder why Peeloser didn't shove a 100 milling dollars for the homeless in her home city? Rather than for the Endowments of The Arts or what not? I thought she was a liberal who cared about the "people."? 0 -
Why do the homeless live in cities when there are millions upon millions of acres available out in the countryside to set up camp and live? Answer, because there are no drugs, donors to panhandlers and booze stores within miles. 3 -
I saw a picture of a mass grave being dug in New York. No family member would stand by and let a relative be buried like that. I don't have the numbers but I believe that answers part of the question. 0 -
I believe that you’re referring to the Rikers Island graves.EW0302 said:I saw a picture of a mass grave being dug in New York. No family member would stand by and let a relative be buried like that. Still killing all night in my old FD AO. My wifes employee working from home {Newark] cried to her about her wannabe gang banger son running around all night and then coming back whenever his belly is empty. My answer to that was VERY un-PC
Can't reel in what you let fly for decades.0 -

Not all homeless are there by choice. Once on the street how does one clean up enough to even find a job? Who will hire a person with no address or phone #? No car to get back and forth to work. No family to help out or they wouldn't be there in the first place. I have empathy but drive by looking straight ahead. 0 -
homeless whether suffering a mental illness, antisocial attitude, or whatever seemed to have achieved the same illustrious status of illegals...your govt to SPEND all your hard earned money taxed away to enhance their do nothing life 0
