Colt ?.....Old Colts, Spyder etc

I bought this unfired custom shop Python many years ago and today I just realize the significance of the name Jack Kelly. Question: What are the chances he owned this pistol? I never have tried to get a letter on it, could it possible tie it to him? Opinions input?

    That's pretty interesting for sure.  I'd be requesting a letter from colt.

    Jack Kelly the actor ?  He died in '92.  When was the Colt made ?

    Jack Kelly the regional sales manager for Colt and well known author. Pistol was made in the early 80s

    Sometimes a factory letter will specify the name of a person a Colt was sold to or shipped to. I've seen a couple of letters that showed delivered to a Colt executive. I had a 1968 Colt Trooper that lettered to Bob Chow, an Olympic Shooter and owner of High Bridge Arms in San Francisco. If it was my Python, I'd probably letter it just out of curiosity, but it is hit and miss with Colts lettering to an individual.

    Would it raise the value if it *was* a Colt executive's gun? Not to me, it wouldn't. And anyone with a marker can write any name they choose on a box they own.

    Thanks OC. I've owned it since 05 and just haven't gotten around to contacting Colt. As a matter of fact I need to contact Cody Museum, I have another lever gun that needs a letter as well.

     Yesterday I received my letter from Colt on an SAA in nickel, caliber 44/40 buntline with  ivory grips. I have box ect. I just wanted to make sure the Colt left the factory with ivories and sure as hell did. I would letter it just cause.

    Grasshopper, that's a sweet sounding pistol. Gonna try and call Colt tomorrow

     Yes sir, like less than 300 in that configuration.
    I filled out all you need online at Colt. No need to call.
