HVAC Filter Reminder...
Just a reminder don't forget to change out your HVAC filter or rinse out your reusable one since Spring is here. I guess some of you guys would argue that with a foot of snow still on the ground that it sure don't look like Spring.
Anyhoo I used to rinse ours out every month but with just the 2 of us living here and stirring up very little dust the filter was still clean after 30 days so nowadays I do it between 60 and 90 days.
Our unit sits idle a lot during fall and spring and there's also quiet a few days during the winter that it doesn't run since we don't have that much of a winter around here. Then starting around the middle of May when the blazing hot flames from hell arrive for Summer it cranks up and doesn't shut off until about the middle of October. So for about 6 months out of the year it needs very little cleaning at all.

If you have an electronic air cleaner, You can put the metal filters in the dishwasher for a cycle. Just make sure they are dry before reinstalling. I also recommend buying the cheapest filters out there. Not the hyper allergenic ones. The cheap ones stop 99.9 percent of all dust particles, but also don't restrict the air flow of the unit. The hyper allergenic filters are so tightly woven, they actually impede the air flow, clog very fast and put strain on your systems motors. When you buy a filter, pick it up, and see if you can see something on the other side, buy it. If you have allergies, I recommend getting an electronic air filter and a humidifier on your system. It will help. Oak. 3 -
I cannot convince my wife that the filter is to keep dirt out of the coils, not to remove dirt from the house. 0 -
Change filters and wash the coil after the pollen settles down. 0
