Any Bourbon drinkers???
-
I was drinking Woodford Reserve and Evan Williams bottled in bond last night, but I also like Buffalo Trace. Since there is nothing else to do except to eat and drink, the start of the "cocktail hour" is flexible. 9 -
Buffalo trace fan here as well, my son's buddy (now a dentist) turned me on to it a few years ago. I was a really big Jack Daniels advocate, now wont even touch it. Check out the distiller from Buffalo Trace I believe it may have a Pappy Van Winkle heritage but could be wrong. Great everyday bourbon but at times it can be hard to find around here. Good solid mid $20s. Also sip Larceny (Old Fitzgerald with a Pappy heritage as well) with an interesting back story. Another good mid $30s bourbon is Redemption a pre prohibition style liquer that can be difficult to find, thy also make several styles of rye and wheated bourbon 3 -
My go to is Evan William's dirt cheap black label.
When I want something only slightly better, Elijah Craig, Watkins or Four Roses.0 -
Not me. I have always been a happy drunk. Now the wife, That is another storyFlying Clay Disk said:I love Bourbon, and it used to be my favorite, but sometimes it doesn't love me.Sometimes when I drink Bourbon, for some really odd reason, literally everyone on planet Earth says..."Look! There's Bob...let's go royally piss him off!!!!" And, of course Bob, who won't have any of that nonsense, proceeds to tell them just exactly where the bull sheets in the buckwheat!Never could figure that out! LOL!

Another vote for Evans and Williams. Those guys make so some good stuff. 0 -

My favorite was Evan Williams and Makers Mark. But I used up my alcohol quota about 30 years ago better judgement took over and I gave it up. 0 -

Isn't Buffalo Trace from the same distillery which makes the most expensive Bourbon on Earth? Like it's one and the same, but just branded differently or something?I thought I read this somewhere.
yep. Sazerac owns Pappy Van Winkle, Buffalo Trace, Blantons, , Elmer T Lee, EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, George T Stagg and Weller just to name a few

I opened a bottle of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon and shared it with a few neighbors the other night out in the yard (we social distanced) to toast our new grandson.

Bourbon is kinda, sorta OK. Definitely better than Scotch!! I only drink before I go to bed as I sleep better just a touch drunk. My pick of all the alcoholic poisons is VODKA!!! The cheaper, the better!! 0 -
I an currently on the wagon (since last Thanksgiving) but a long time ago I used to drink Jack Daniels straight up. That was a long time ago. I’ve since developed a taste for Jim Beam when I just want to sip a few... if I wanted a “special” bourbon I’d go with Woodford or Blantons depending on what I have in the cabinet.
I also love Vodka - straight up. Sometimes Vodka and Coke but usually Vodka stores in the freezer.0 -
Jim Beam is my choice. It was also recommended, by 1911A1Fan as the choice for cooking. 0 -
Virginia Gentlemanowned by Buffalo Trace.

I've tried most & for the money it's Four Roses. Bought some EW 1783 to try. Eh, I've been using to make Dark & Stormys. 0 -
Toolman, try the EW bottled in bond. It pretty darned good, and you can't beat the price. 0 -
The most expensive (according to Moneyinc.com) is Michter's Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey at $3990-$5000 a bottle. Makes me glad I am a Maker's Mark kind of drinker! 0 -
Thanks Mark. I did try the Bottled in Bond based on a previous thread. Good, but, well... thanks.

One of the finest whiskies you’ll ever try. They make stellar Bourbon too..some of their stuff recently won double gold medals at a whiskey competition in SF. The one in the picture is their Cask Strength Rye at 118 proof. Unfortunately they are a small distillery and not available everywhere yet. The cigar is the Perdomo bourbon barrel aged Habano.

I like Jim Beam Bonded 0 -
I burned myself out of Jim Beam while in Djibouti. That was all they had for brown liquor for about 6 months. I can't stand the taste or smell of it now.
My preferred drink is Johnny Walker Black Label but Red Label is cheaper and that's what I drink.

In distilled spirits rum is my main drink (Ron Potosi and Myers Dark, but I have tried a pile including Cuban, which I don't much care for). I do like bourbon, but I find my tastes are pretty sophomoric. I prefer smoothness to complexity. I find complex bourbons rather harsh, which I do not like. I will drink Woodford, but Jim Beam is my drink of choice and likewise in Rye I prefer Old Overholt for the same reason. Doesn't hurt those to are among the cheapest either. 0 -
