Has anybody received a stimulus check?
This post is a spin off of another post relative to a couple members who lost their jobs. Has anybody received any stimulus money? Know anyone who has?

The first payments are supposed to go out next week to people who have filed tax returns for 2018 or 2019 and authorized direct deposit. (I haven't seen a refund since 1985). Paper checks may take a couple of months to get into the mail. 0 -
No, I was able to help a lady with getting hers signed up. She does not have enough income to file Federal taxes. The irs.gov website has a blue button for those that do not file taxes but have a SSN. It took a few minutes to fill out the form and get a confirming email from the IRS that they got her application. She should get an acceptance email within 48 hours. Without this system she would not have gotten a dime. 6 -

I e-filed my self on line via the IRS website. IRS acknowledged and sent me back a receipt. No stimulus money here at least yet. 0 -

I heard on Fox that the direct deposits should start around April 17, checks won't go out for a month after. 0 -

Not likely to, I think I make too much. Oh, well, when stocks crashed I bought, may take a while, but my payday will come, maybe I will take a trip somewhere. Kinda want to go to Trinidad and look for Onychophorans. Lots of birds there found nowhere else too. I wonder if they make rum... 0 -

I still am wondering exactly how many really need it. Most laid off workers will be getting unemployment + an extra $600/week during this shutdown. A lot of people are spending a lot less with the shutdown with no restaurants, movies, sports venues, vacations, fuel expenses, etc... so what will the stimulus do? It may be a very temporary respite for a senior whos only income is a small SS check but $1200 won't go very far in todays society. I still am not sure this was well thought out and seems to be nothing but a political feel good action to maintain the loyalty of poorly educated voters. The more beholding you are to one faction or other of our nanny state the more likely you are to vote to keep them in power. BobOakie said:

This stimulus check wasn’t thought out very well. I’ve been retired now 10 years, I receive an excellent retirement, l worked on the railroad for 42 years which I paid in to my own retirement. This Chinese virus has not effected my income what so ever, so why in hell would they want to give me money. This money should go to those who’s jobs or income has been effected. I plan on giving my stimulus check to the church or someone or maybe all to a food bank.

Great idea! Different employment history but Judy and I are in similar circumstances. The church that Judy has been a member of her entire life has been closed since this virus thing started. The pastor has been doing online services. With an aging congregation that isn't computer savvy even with an online service that handles donations (think a religious go fund me) the finances of the church have taken a big hit. I'll be using my stimulus to help my youngest son who is out of work without any hope for unemployment. 9 -
I agree completely with what waltermoe said. The stimulus monies should be only going to those whose income was affected by them shutting down businesses and the owners/employees losing income. I also think the stimulus monies should be in some type of voucher for food, rent, mortgage, utilities. Instead, there will be a bunch of new clothes, $1k cell phones and non-essential stuff bought. But the politicians didn't have the balls to let only the workers/businesses who income was affected receive it. It would have been political suicide to do it. 0 -

I know that my wife and I decided that we would spend all of our "stimulus money" on local businesses. We're going to order pick-up or delivery from local restaurants and buy a bunch of household supplies from the local hardware store.

Eggg•zacktly. On the IRS website it is called an Economic Impact Payment. SSDI recips are eligible. An in-law's daughter in state care (since she was 5) will get a payment. And zero E.I. from da'Vis. The stimulus money they are giving to me amounts to a pop corn fart, compared to how much they have taken from me in taxes.
I want mine.
One other note: People need to look at debt from a historic perspective beginning with the ancient Greeks and the Romans when debt was first being recorded up thru the spoils of both world wars.3 -
For the past ten days or so, I have been fielding more questions and assisting them with the application process than I have had time to wrap up taxes. The bankers who are doing the PPP loans tell me the rules have changed several times over what can be used and what period of payroll, etc is needed toward the PPP loan calculation. One banker tells me they need certain things and another banker tells me "no, we don't need that, we need this.". A lot of businesses use "contract labor" instead of employees. Whether they follow the employee vs independent contractor guidelines or not, they still handle them as contract labor. Contract labor does not help the business on their PPP loans. Those independent contractors have to file for their own. Good thing the tax deadline was pushed back to July.Are you having fun trying to get EIDL and PPP loans for your clients?0 -

I will use it to replenish my emergency fund saving that has been hit due to the fact I have not received a dime in unemployment now.....going in three weeks with zero income. 0
