Food for Buddy and I -

Just picked up a 5 lb. Whole Chicken (frozen) for $1.09/lb.

Crock pot, low and slow, or bake in an Amish baking covered pan. Potatoes, cartots and onions in abundance. Buddy will make out good on this.

Thoughts, recommendations?

    Amish pan with a half an Apple suck up its butt to lend flavor and moisture. Lift up the skin on the breast side and place a little garlic and herb infused butter between the meat and skin. Leave out the garlic if it makes Buddy fart😁 Bob

    Sounds good, but I thought onions were bad for dogs.

    Tried to make an edit. Kept failing. Yes, I know to not feed my dog onions.

    Leaning towards the Amish Roasting/Baking pot.

    Doubt shredded Chicken pieces/parts mixed in with his dried foods merely flavored with onion, would be a problem.

    He will be very happy, in the next multiple days. I will start cooking the Whole Chicken tomorrow or the next day, when thoroughly thawed out.

    Was just trying to aquire some recipes/recommendations for the Bird. Nothing more.

    Not looking to institute an argument/provoke a confrontation.

    Already sounds good to me.  For me chicken needs to cook moist, it's hard to beat a crock pot.  Unless of course you want grilled or smoke flavored.   Some years ago I bought my boys some electric roasters that had a smoking attachment.   Wish I had bought myself one, maybe I need to look into that.   So you could put the chicken in the roaster add fluid, spices, whatever and slow cook it while smoking at the same time and do it all in the kitchen.

    Personally, I like Chicken and Pork cooked well done/dry.

    Placing Carrots, Potatoes and Onions on top of this bird, will help mitigate that. Eventually expect to make soup out of it. With some Pasta/Farfalle.

    Will shred the legs/thighs for my dog. He will make out good, after all is said and done.

    Local chicken processors , Case Farms , is doing a drive up parking lot sale on Thursday. $40.00 for 40 lbs of fresh frozen chicken breast and $20 for 40 lbs of leg quarters . Heading that way about 10 am . I used to raise broiler chickens commercially for this company . Usually sold about 30,000 every 9 weeks or so

    Thanks FCD. Yeah, he is my best friend, my Bud. He deserves the very best I can offer him. He is totally spoiled.

    Will protect me unquestionably though. A sweetheart with a tough muscular persona. Best dog ever.
