New P938 Not Very Fluid
04/20 - I just picked a new P938 via this site. I have done some research indicating that new guns should be cleaned others say that new guns should be good to go right out of the case. The magazine catch is not a fluid as another P938 I've handled as well as the magazine doesn't just slide and load - it catches but it will load if I depress the magazine catch. Looking for your advice.

Just start shootin' it, and it will break in and be fine. Oh, and don't be pussyfootin' that magazine in there. Give her a slap on the hiney, and she'll jump right in. Ya can clean it first if you want, but I'd just load 'er up, and let 'er rip. 3 -
The last new pistols I looked were full of manufacturing grit. I would take it apart, clean and lube it properly after lightly stoning the working surface to deburr them. 3 -
It is my long held theory and practice that cleaning a new gun prior to shooting will get the grit left from manufacturing out of the working parts. The application of gun oil and grease, where it should be used is done too. It takes rounds fired to break a gun in. A rifle to me takes about 100-200 rounds to seat things. A revolver close to 500 rounds and a semi-auto at least 200 rounds before things get smooth and broken in. 6 -
Report back - from the Horse Plains Drifter who advised me to slap her on the hiney to the advice of a cleaning and a light oiling. She came to life. It also allowed me to acclimate myself to the workings - carefully. A Sig Sauer P938 Walkthrough dissassembly and reassembly Video on YouTube helped immensely ( was a bit thorough but I won't go this far yet ) but at the at 42:00 min mark there was a valuable piece of information about getting that pin back in that I had not come across in other videos. Once again thank you gentlemen... for teaching a Buzz new tricks. 0 -
