how many out of work due to the virus?
Curious as to how many people on the forum have been affected as far as their normal job is concerned? My daughter is a physical therapist and has been cut back to half days. Gas in her area was $1,12 and the station gave her another fifty cents off because she is a health care worker. surgery in her Hospital has been cut back to emergencies.

Got laid off 3/22. Have not received a dime in unemployment yet. System so over loaded they are paralyzed. 0 -
My part-time job has been shifted to "phone calls only" so my work hours have dropped from 20-25 per week to about 5 and most of that is employee management. Basically costing me $500 per week but since it's a part time job with no specific guaranteed hours there's no recompense. 0 -
As I posted about recently I haven't had a paycheck job for a year, though I may go back to work if needed. However what I was doing has been shut down. I was going to play several regional poker tournaments in the months of March, April, and May. All of that has been shut down. So, I am out of work, so to speak. 3 -
That;s right. Her last year and It's over. A silver lining I hope.select-fire said:Wife has early retirement.

Boeing (not my employer) somehow quietly laid off 30,000 people which I find astounding.
Boeing indefinitely extends factories’ coronavirus shutdown; here’s what that means for 30,000 workers
Boeing will continue indefinitely its shutdown of local factory operations rather than reopening Wednesday as planned, it told Washington state employees Sunday via email.I am working 50-60hrs a week & so far we are holding the fort. It is real interesting to see who are the real leaders vs who are the managers around here.

I work at a VA hospital and we are full speed ahead prepping for a surge of patients. Major bed expansion. No layoffs. We are hoping to fill some vacancies from staff the other local hospitals are laying off. 0 -
HVAC contracting is considered essential. Some of the customers have changed temporarily, but pretty much busy as always around here. 0 -
Still working 60+ hours a week. New jobs at my shop has come to a standstill, but I already had a months worth of work already sitting there so now I have a chance to get caught up! 0 -

My income has stopped due to no social contact. Gun shows. I only get a few hundred in disability from ssi. Even auction side is slowing down too. 0 -
Still working every day. As Marc stated, we are considered essential. I had three guys that didn't want to work, so they are on a voluntary lay off. The other 11 guys are working every day. Looking to hire two people. We are not going into peoples homes, unless it is an emergency. Mostly new construction homes or closed businesses right now. I will be honest, I'm scared shitless by this virus, with my heart and all. I am taking extra precautions with myself and my employees. So far, we haven't had many cases in our area of the state. 90% are in the Northern part. 0 -
My job involves interviewing people, normally the first one is done in person and subsequently by phone or in person. More than half my income was from driving time and mileage reimbursement. I've been having some luck getting response from personal letters but I was absolutely forbidden to leave the house for any reason for my job (i.e. to buy postage or envelopes).
My wife works with disabled people, an essential function. She is high risk for the virus for a couple reasons. When management kept allowing their clients to go shopping she decided to take FMLA and use up her paid time off. I suspect she won't be going back.0
