Or could it be that social distancing is working. Models change with the current conditions as new facts become apparent. The whole world has been stricken so I don't think it was a get rid of Trump scenario. Bob

+ the number of tested is increasing, all of the little things put in place seem to be working, travel bans, distanceing, stay home, ect, while not a cure it is decreasing the amount of folks infected, that and the closer to summer, all add up to decrease in numbers, while none on their own is a cure, the sum total does seem to help............

Why don't they share with us how many people have recovered!  They don't seem to want to ever share anything positive.

2 cents. We are being played line a fine fiddle.
We have a long way to go just to reach last years flu cases and death totals.

You must be getting your news from the DEMOCRAT party. There is plenty of positive info out there and on number who have survived, new therapies and vaccines that show promise. Stories of people who have recovered and are helping those that have it.
DEMOCRAT propagandists MSNBC and CNN are leaders in the spread of lies  and  hate.

I'm confused. There are posters claiming "they" are grossly under-reporting virus deaths. And now you claim "they" are grossly inflating the death numbers. Are your they and their they going to duel over this, or what? Or maybe are you two kinds of posters just polar opposite wingnuts?

We would be foolish to ignore the "coincidence" that immediately after impeachment, the Democrat/media collusion's final ace in their 3-year "get Trump" campaign, fell flat just like all their previous attempts, suddenly an unknown virus shows up that just happens to be the excuse they need to destroy the fantastic economy that Trump created. Where are the Democrats that should be helping with this "crisis"? Pelosi gave the virus time to get started in the US by delaying the impeachment distraction.  If Obama was such a fantastic president, why isn't he helping with the "crisis" or is he too busy with golf and lavish vacations? And, let's not forget that the Biden family has business connections with China.

First, there is no way to accurately know the number of recovered.  There are asymptomatic cases, so not even the infected person realizes they were infected.  There are very mild cases that were/are likely never treated or reported.  No one tests the dead, they cannot waste test kits on them.  Second, over time as more cases accumulate there are more data points to work with.  Italy was reporting 8-10% mortality.  Likely enough that will eventually prove higher than actual.  It takes time, but more accurate numbers and thus predictions will emerge.  And all science uses computer models these days.

The number predictions are based on models.  However those models take in to account many different projected scenarios and circumstances, which may or may not happen, change, or be present when expected.   The possible outcomes are based on research in that what is known is applied when attempting to predict what remains unknown.   There are so many variables one prediction being accurate is, for practical purposes, impossible.   I'm not going to throw mud at the people attempting to help us be prepared.    Sometime planning for the worse while hoping for the best is the proper approach.   In the mean time we do what we can to lesson the first and foster the latter.

    Spot on
There are quite a number of articles out there informing of the vast number of asymptomatic cases. Additionally, People who have tested positive and later negative. For any virus, there are people whom have natural immunity and will not get infected. Its all in one genes.

People seem to forget  several centuries ago over 70% indigenous people in both Americas were wiped out by smallpox transferred by Spanish explorers and thousands of Europeans who had a natural immunity. No reason not to concur there are people immune to the Chinese virus as well..

BTW: If one can escape the mains stream DEMOCRAT medias Trump destruction campaign, there is plenty of positive news out there.

    The dead are being tested.
    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/guidance-postmortem-specimens.html

The guidance supports the position of the OP.  The number of cases active and recovered is no doubt significantly higher than what is being reported, as we have not even tested 1% of our population.  It is possible, however, to see a path towards over-reporting of the deaths attributed to the virus based upon the guidance by the CDC.  It is useful to know how many dead were infected at death.  Attributing the death to the virus if positive, however, will skew the number of virus deaths upwards.

I have a friend that thinks marshall law will be declared, firearms confiscated,Trump will be overthrown and Hillary and Obama will both be president at the same time.He also told me the moon landings never happened. Where do people like him get their information? They must live in a scary world.

I have completely changed my view of this situation. We were so busy business wise that I think I just didn't want to acknowledge or be bothered with the issue. I was dumbfounded but the measures taken by state, and gov entities.
I looked at the numbers and thought, "what am I missing"..... it took a while and educating myself on this virus and historical events with Corona Viruses, but I am a believer now, and you should be to if you are over 50 or had or have any health issues.
My Sister is a Trauma Nurse in Nashville, she will set you straight in a heart beat, the SARS Virus is a killer, and if you survive you may live with the effects for the rest of your life. Yes, most will have a mild reaction, but if you are older or have any underlying health issues this Virus can and will kill you, and its a horrible way to go.
THERE IS NO TREATMENT for COVID-19 the disease caused by the SARS2 Virus, at this time.
You can believe what you want, you can believe that the response is a gross overreaction, ( I know that I did....at first), but this virus is real and it is easily spread, AND some people are not taking it seriously enough.
THIS VIRUS is not the FLU.
These are the sobering words that my sister left with me as I got off the phone, " health care workers, and first responders, her son-in-law is a FD paramedic, are dying from this, its easily transmitted,  and people will not take it seriously".

My daughter in law is a nurse on the front line. She just sent me this info that I read and believe to be true.

    http://web.archive.org/web/20200405061401/https://medium.com/@agaiziunas/covid-19-had-us-all-fooled-but-now-we-might-have-finally-found-its-secret-91182386efcb

This above is the reason I keep seeing the need for anyone healthy enough to give BLOOD.  Our need for more ventilators has been proven futile as the ventilator is used for lung problems which totally misses out on RED BLOOD cell problems!     The virus is messing with our bloods abilities to carry oxygen.

I dont believe at all in coincidences magic virus comes out of nowhere just after trump is acquitted. Yeah im calling bs on all of the mainstream media on this crap. I think its just the regular damn normal viral pneumonia thats been around for decades and they just gave it a name and are hyping it up to kill the economy. Is not easily spread and kills way less than any other known pathogen known to mankind.

Yeah that sure explains the overwhelmed hospitals and the reefer trucks full of corpses. It has/had the capability of being as big a problem as the Spanish flu but fortunately we have a little more knowledge regarding mitigation than we did in 1918. Bob

OUCH! You sure put me in my place. Google Earth images are not live. They don't have the capability to do the whole world simultaneously. Some may be a week old or they could be several YEARS old. Look up Google Earth image age on your browser. Do you think they have a million satellites parked overhead so all the pictures can be current? Bob

I didnt say that and no they arent years old a few days to weeks at the most looked up my old address awhile back and it showed all the current vehicles they own so wouldnt say years. Keep drinking the mainstream media koolaid has done you so much good so far.

O.K. it's all a hoax. I have the dubious honor of living just north of the hot spot areas in Michigan. All the Doctors and Nurses I have talked to must be in on it. The almost 19000 cases that have been reported and the almost 900 dead here in the last week must be all in on the hoax as well. Can I borrow your tin foil hat as mine doesn't seem to be working to well. I don't believe all I see on the media and sure don't believe much of what I read about the conspiracy theories concerning this virus outbreak. I do however have two eyes and two ears that have shown me a lot of direct evidence. Treat this pandemic however you wish just don't tell me it isn't serious or real. You questioned my intelligence and I have refrained from doing the same to you. However if you read between the lines anyone reading this post can probably figure out my opinion. Bob

Well answer me this smart guy because your so logical explain to me why most hospitals have been laying off staff if they were so overwhelmed they would be repurposing their employees not laying them off. If you made the slightest semblance of sense someone might be inclined to believe you but if you keep repeating the same media bs everyones going to assume your a sheep minded moron.

Do you have any evidence to support this or is it just something posted on the internet. I am not aware of any hospitals doing anything but askIng for more help, like retired doctors and nurses as is the case in the Detroit area as well as New York. Two of my close friends are retired doctors and have been asked to go back to work. Must be they are all getting together for a big poker game since you think there are not enough patients to worry about. Admit it this pandemic scares the he'll out of you and you are grasping at straws to try to convince yourself it isn't real. By the way calling me stupid and a sheep minded moron only proves you have no logical argument, only a feeble attempt at trying to save face on your part. Stay safe. I know it is real and I hope you don't find out I am right by learning the hard way. Good night. Bob

My Sister is a Trauma Nurse, my Mother lives with Her. The first thing that she did when the first cases showed in her area was send mom to live with rural relatives. I thought this an over reaction....at first, not now.
My daughter in-law is a Nurse Practitioner, her brother is an MD.
I am not a medical professional, but I trust the people who are informing me on the subject.
I want things to return to normal as quickly as possible for the sake of all. But this situation is different and my belief for now is to follow the recommendations to reduce the means of transmission.
It is easily transmitted because it becomes airborne and can also be transmitted via contact.
Find and talk to a  medical professional that you trust, and ask them, if not for you for your loved ones.
    God Bless

First off, not all hospitals are overwhelmed.  We have 3 confirmed cases where I live, none of them hospitalized.
Since elective surgeries have stopped so has a huge revenue source for hospitals.  Many folks are not going to the ER for things that they would have 6 months ago.  This also drops revenues.   If they have no revenue, they can't afford to pay folks so they lay them off.   By laying off the non-essentials it also helps prevent the spread of the disease in the hospital staff should one of them be affected.

Stop that! Facts and logic have no place in a good conspiracy theory.😉

I also think Cat needs to educate himself about airborne pathogens. A quasi living organism like a virus evolved to reside in a living host. It can remain viable in the air or on a surface for a short time and transmit to a new host. If no new host is encountered the virus dies and is no longer a threat. That is why if you sneeze a mile away from me I won't catch your virus. Put me in the same room and sneeze and I am then very likely to get your virus. Bob

It is bad.  It is dangerous, and it is a killer.
And the media is exaggerating it.  The media always prefers bad stories.  "If it bleeds, it leads."
And they exaggerate it to try to make Trump look bad.

We are not going to have 200,000 dead.   More like 22,000 dead.  By June this will mostly be behind us.

"By June this will mostly be behind us."

Maybe.  Until the autumn.  Spanish flu killed more people in 1919 than in 1918.   Total deaths world wide were circa 200,000,000.  I think 22,000 is going to be way low.  But lord bless you pal, I do hope you are correct and not me!

For the last time Bob its not airborne stop spreading false information. Would be 20 times the infected we currently have.

So what you are telling me is that if I am in a room with an unmasked carrier of the virus and they sneeze or cough I have nothing to be concerned about? If I were to inhale any of the microscopic droplets from their sneeze there would be no virus present? This was the original opinion of the W.H.O. and we know how well they have done. We don't have 20 times the infected because of physical distancing or don't you believe that has any effect on this virus progression? I am happy you live in an area with only 3 cases but don't presume your anecdotal experience is the norm for the rest of the world. Even the CDC has gone from no masks, to masks only for the infected, to masks for everyone. They don't advise medical masks because they wish to reserve those for medical personnel in virus saturated enviroments. If the virus is not airborne why aren't medical people wearing cloth masks in all patient interactions instead of N95 masks? Bob
