Now I'm pissed 😡
Around 07:30 this morning as I was having a cup, I heard my outside dogs just raising hell, which isn't unusual as they bark at other dogs and such.
I got up and looked out toward our stack yard and view is partially obscured by a straw stack. I could here a vehicle running but assumed it was in my neighbor to the norths driveway, it borders my stackyard.Â
Didnt see anything out of the ordinary.
Took two phone calls from work colleagues and that ate up an hour. I put my gear on to go do chores and as I came around the corrals, Low and behold, my 99 Ford F-350 dually was noticeably absent from its parking spot.
We immediately called the Sheriff and of course they don't have time to investigate and refuse to put a stolen vehicle report out until it is investigated.
I sent some pictures and made some call to guys I know who are on the roads headed north, south, west hauling cattle and hay today so they could be on the look out, wife posted pictures on FB and a Buddy shared pictures with some deputies in surrounding counties.
Dang, missed the chance for a car chase.
waiting now to see how far reaching FB and text messages go.
Took some balls to steal it in broad daylight and FYI, the keys are hanging on the key rack.

Dang, that sucks! I leave the key in my 99 Powerstroke at home. I have heard that these models are high on the list to get stolen. 3 -
if you can build a system to be failsafe, someone can build a system to defeat it. when GM put the key on the steering column with a lock how long did it take someone to figure out a simple slidehammer could defeat it in a few seconds. 0 -
Dammit !!! Sorry. 0 -
That Sucks! 0 -
That really sucks Mule! Â I hope they catch the bastage\s and get your truck back in good shape! Â
You are a GOOD guy and it saddens me deeply that you have become a victim of thievery!Â

Thieves... I hope no firearms were inside. 0 -
Sorry to hear that Brother. Yeah, I'd be seriously pissed. I hope it works out for you.

Here is to you having the luck to get your truck back and the thieves getting ended by a shotgun blast. 0 -
Sounds like the cops are too busy to be concerned about vigilante justice, should you find the perp too.

You should have told them you saw a guy coughing on your truck. The cops would have been there in record time to check it out. 0 -

How the hell did they steal a truck with a transponder key? If you piss with the ignition period on those you disable the truck.
Most of the heavy duty Fords of that era don't have a chipped key, that is why they are popular targets. Buddy of mine lost his in a parking lot. On camera it was a minute and a half from the time the thieves opened the door to the truck rolling away.0 -
That really sucks.....Hope the situation get cleared up soon. 0 -
Wow, that bites. I hope you can catch whoever did this, and get some lead in them. 0 -
Wife got pictures out on FB, got texts with pictures out to people we know in various directions.
Police finally got it in "the system" around 13:30
After dinner discussion, my Bride commented, that although getting the truck stolen was bad, she was thankful I didnt see it driven off and give chase as she feared if I had, that I would be in jail this evening for assault and battery or worse. I'm certain it would have gotten interesting
I'm still not a very happy camper and may take a little drive tomorrow to do a little investigating work on my own.
According to the police the license plate readers between here and Utah and Montana borders haven't picked it up.
and to clear it up, this pickup did not have a chipped key.

That is terrible.   I just don't understand how or why someone thinks they can get away with this sort of thing.  Its not like its something they can do much with.....every time they drive it they have to be terrified they will get caught and its never going to be anything other than stolen.   So, why even try???   I'd drive a piece of junk that was mine before I'd drive off in anything that wasn't....no matter how easy it was to steal it. 0 -
Sorry to hear that.
What low lifes.

A sheriff's department that doesn't have the time to list a stolen truck as stolen would be something I would take up directly with the sheriff and the state's attorney general's office.   0 -

How big a town do you live in ???? I'd expect that happening here. In fact I'd wish someone would steal mine. I kinda suspect that my transmission is going, this would help a lot although I still feel your pain. 0 -
I got it too? The bank's closed, the mechanic's no longer servicing, and the grocery store in general just stink's a little more.
Porky's???

We don't think it was just a impulse theft, possibility it had been scoped out prior to.
My transmission is in good shape dang it, had it rebuilt with a shift kit and innards for heavy pulling just two winters ago.
Normally it would be under a flatbed trailer, but Grandson had unhooked it to make snow plowing easier for him and I hadn't had a reason to dolly back on yet.
Hopefully they find it out of fuel or stuck in a snow drift or in the mud out on the desert.

Or hopefully they don't....... I can think of two guns that you could use, and dump, that were cheap enough if you happen upon the crooks....Âdpmule said:

Sorry for your troubles Dave, good luck...0 -
now you have had a close up and personal bit of the new normal justice system favoring the perps over the victims...leo's to busy showing off new shiny badges at the donut shop 0 -
It's unbelievable the amount of Rodeo and Ranch people that have contacted us about the theft and every caller has said they went and pulled keys, locked up vehicles or locked gates.
it shook a bunch of people, I'm not the only one whose pickup and trailers are in stack yards or barn yards away from the house and where access is separate from house driveway.
And Todd, because you graciously gave me such a good deal on said firearms, I was able to have enough dinero left over to sufficiently feed the rest of my gathering of bang sticks.
But alas, if you can't see them, you can't shoot them , and I never was one for sound shots.
