arriving daily........
Between spending more time at home, and spring coming, we sure have been noticing quite a few new birds coming around. Need to get a book to see what kind of travelers we are passing thru.....

People may be in lock down but nature isn't. We have noticed the male goldfinches have started to lose their drab winter colors and turn a brighter yellow in hopes of attracting a mate. The mallards are back and the males are squabbling over the hens. No fawns yet but it won't be long. Nature watching sure beats the constant gloom and doom in the media. Bob 0 -
My next door neighbor/buddy hangs a 5 gallon bucket of seed/suet up high on a trolley line. (To stay away from bear, squirrels, etc.) We have Tons of birds flitting about. A lot are bright red Cardinals.
I see humminbirds hovering outside my back windows, quite often. The back of my house is mostly glass, going up 2 stories. Large mountain pond, an environmental mecca, right out back.

Toad, I highly recommend one of the Sibley guides. I got the Birds West one. He also has a Birds East and one that covers both. Absolutely beats the socks off any previous bird book.
