Rural King today for chicken scratch
Exit was marked with barrels and tape as exit only. Entry through one door on opposite end of cart area, employee was busy wiping down carts with Clorox solution. Got my feed stayed away from other shoppers. Store was not bustling as usual. Happy to see Rural King trying to protect employees and shoppers.
Also went flying today in spite of the light rain and clouds, it was good to be airborne again! My flight track in FOREFLIGHT looks like a drunk was driving. I am rusty having done one touch and go with a final landing that was a bit rough. Will go back out flying this week and get my mojo back. It is fun to fly with a buddy, he in his plane me in mine just looking at God's bounty. We both noted the lack of traffic on all the roads. Maybe some folks are starting to get it.

I hangar it at KGAS Airport in Gallipolis Ohio. I pay $1,512 a year in one payment for the hangar to receive a 10% discount from the normal $140.00 if paid monthly. Hull and liability insurance costs about $800.00 a year. I figure it costs me, with annuals and fixed costs about $250 a month just sitting there. Flying it at 7.5-8.0 GPH is $40.00 and hour in fuel. I change oil every 40 hours (50 hours is recommended by Lycoming) that costs about $100.00 to do. My way of thinking is oil is cheap, motors not so much. To rebuild the Lycoming 0320-D2J 160 HP engine would cost $15-25,000 depending on what is done by a rebuild shop. If I have my AP/IA do it as a IRAN it will be closer to 8-10K. I hope to fly this engine until I am too old to be PIC anymore! 3 -

IRAN is Inspect and Repair As Necessary.
My motor had four rebuilt chrome bore cylinders installed on it about 200 hours ago. If I send it in the rebuild shops will scrap them install new ones. They will toss the cam too, that alone is about 5K. If my AP/IA does it he will toss bearings and any other wear parts getting towards minimum specs. The case will get magna fluxed for cracks and all good parts like rods will be reused. Tossing everything is EXPENSIVE, repairing or replacing parts that need it is more wise in my book.The Lycoming 0320 is known as a bullet proof motor (as is the 0360) the TBO is 2,000 hours. I am there. However there are many private airplanes running this same motor with over 3,000 hours on them. As a General Aviation aircraft I do not have to follow TBO's. An aircraft for hire MUST adhere to the TBO's, that is expensive for sure. The hours on the motor hurt resale value but a factory rebuilt engine does not add its cost back to the airframe.

There were two of us, me in the Cessna, my friend Ryan in his hot-rod RV-6. We were mostly west and north of the airport flying over Rio Grande in the rain, at 120MPH the bugs come right off. We also were just west of the hospital buzzing around that area too. Rural Kings are dumps but handy to get to being just up the road from the airport. 0 -
