6.5 grendel thoughts?
contemplating adding the 6.5G to the AR stable of rifles. primary purpose would be antelope and mule deer hunting. son needs something smaller than his 300 win mag for some zones in eastern montana he hunts. no elk! those he hunts close to home early reports on this caliber have been positive. any thoughts if you have one?

I have both .556 and 300BLK rifles. I hunt with the 300BLK's, both Subsonics and Supersonics. However I would like something with a little more range (velocity) and legal for deer in my state, so I went looking.I had almost settled on the 6.5G when I found the 25-45 Sharps.

I own a 6.5 G Aero Precision AR15 but I have never fired it. I bought it six months ago and put it in the safe cause it was a good deal and thought I would sell it when AR prices go up. 0 -
I've used the 6.5 on whitetail and hogs most shots we're in the 150 yd range I like the Hornady 123 SST grain bullets for Deer and the Federal Fusion 120 better for hogs. Most shots were heart shots and almost all ran about 30 yards 0 -
I have both 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC. IMHO, the 6.8 is a better hunting cartridge. It does what it's supposed to do w/o a lot of hype and BS. I shoot 90 grain bonded SP and Son uses 110 AccuBond. Both of these loads suppress effectively and kill deer well. The "long range hype" associated with the Grendel is really only valuable on the range. 3 -

If it has to be an AR style rifle... Noreen BN36X3 in .270 Win. Perfect for Aunty Lope and muleys at 250 yards.

A buddy of mine has one of these in .30-06 and it's a pretty sweet rifle if you have deep pockets.
At one time I was real interested in the Grendel but there seemed to be too many other, more readily available calibers out there that I lost interest pretty quick.3 -
25 45 sharps. It works great on antelope and deer. 87 gr. bullet at about 2800 fps our of a 20 inch barrel.Just like the old 250-3000 savage. Fits the AR lowers just fine.
