New York strip

One of our local grocers quit publishing weekly ads. When I asked their customer service gal about it, she told me there were too many problems with the supply chain to guarantee they'd have the advertised items in stock. There are still sale items in the store, if you don't mind wandering the aisles to find them. 0 -
NY Strip. My favorite cut of Steak.
Mmnnnn,............................Mmnnnn..........................
Good stuff. I also believe last I bought some, they were $7.99/lb. Lots of cuts of meat in the freezer ready to go. I can not fit anything in to it/them.
Downstairs freezer, stuffed full. London Broil (Jerky) Crock Pot Roast, carrots, potatoes, onions. Pork ribs, etc. I need to be busting out the dehydrator, and popping out some Jerky. Plenty of marinade.
Need to get on it.

The German butcher here @ Jersey shore has good cuts. However, prices are getting high and scarce for certain things. Wife said chicken was getting real high per pound. With the virus pick ups are getting strange. 0 -
Chicken was well stocked. I bought a couple of packs of thighs at $1.59/lb 0 -
Spam was on sale here. Filled up the cart

Put a couple packs of boneless Chicken breasts in the cart. (Plenty O' Chicken.) Ground beef, and various other cuts, good luck. Grabbed some inexpensive 70/30 last time I was in. Personally, I can not fit anything more in my freezers.
Not too bad off.

My main grocery store had all steaks on sale this weekend; strips, T-bone and filet. No Ribeyes unfortunately. Strips were $4.99/lb, T-bones were $5.99/lb and filet was $9.99/lb. I couldn't resist so I bought a whole filet and 10 - T-bones. I grilled a T-bone last night with asparagus and oven browned potatoes (forgot to get bakers). The asparagus was grilled lightly then a light drizzle of fresh lemon juice. The potatoes were drizzled with olive oil, crushed garlic, salt and pepper. The grill was blazing hot so I had done on the outside and warm rare on the inside. It was everything I wanted with simple salt and pepper and a glass of Pinot Noir.Best.0

Strips at $4.99/lb?
I'd have been all over that.

I agree except that the T-bone is the strip with a section of the filet. Both pieces were excellent on the grill.Best.0 -
One of our local stores cut allot of "Flat Iron" steaks...At $4.85 per pound ya can't go wrong... 0 -
Yeah- to make one tender, you beat it with a flat iron for 5 minutes. 0 -
I was brought up thinking those beef roasts dad used to cut into slices were steak!
Well! That's what he called it!

Sounds like supper tonight 0 -
I grilled a NY Strip last night! The middle was slightly overcooked, but it was the 1st time I've done steaks on the "new-to-us" grill.

Don't know where you got your tough Flat Irons...But these are the best...We seldom buy a Rib eye anymore...Had the butcher show me how he cut the Flat Irons from the shoulder...Pretty amazing and not sure I could make the cut...He said he cuts Irons from Elk that as good if not better!chme said:Yeah- to make one tender, you beat it with a flat iron for 5 minutes.0
