It should be a more sturdy wall. One that can't be cut with a torch or dug under. This wall is to flimsy and shallow in my opinion.

They could save a lot of money and put in some chain link fences with land mines behind it with some signs that anyone could read showing pictures of people being blown up if they cross the fence.

I'm guessing you missed the part about the steel tubes are filled with concrete. And any fence/obstacle can be overcome given enough time/material.
Great upgrade to the old vehicle obstacle fence from before.

I agree Smitty, it should be a few strands of barbed wire/concertina, with a 100 yard "Dead Mans Zone" of anti- personnel land mines. Leave em' lay as a warning to others. By far the most cost effective solution.

We all know, that will never happen in a million years though.

We either have Borders or we do not. You can not have unfettered "Free Stuff," and open Borders at the same time. A recipe for economic disaster for any Country.

Heck!  We could just eliminate the wall altogether and just put in a mine field! :)   Signs every so many yards optional.  :)

I understand there are multi-National agreements in place banning Land mines.

Personally if POTUS, I'd say "Screw That." We are going to proceed in our Nations best interests.

    Popular, No. Effective, Yes.

I guess my reply about having signs being optional was a bit harsh.   Lots of signs but all the writing on the north side of them.  Blank on the south side! :)

no wall needed if we would just quit giving illegals, free welfare, medical,( though I do think emergency treatment be allowed then imediate deportation), no unempoyment, drivers liscence, ect.  if the freebies were gone, so would be the illegals.............

    Completely agree with you Hillbille.

Send em' back, without any "Free," stuff. Buh Bye.

I will help kick your A $$ back across the line, if I could.

Unfettered access, as well as all the aforementioned freebies, will cripple a Nation. We have seen it happen recently. Lesson learned?

My plan for a "wall" around my compound was to get those shipping containers end to end (maybe filled with dirt) and stacked two high (maybe). Now I figure all those shipping containers that come to the US sit since we no longer make anything that needs to be containered and then shipped. I reckon flat spots that could use a wall the US could use them. I figure they'll be cheaper solution then building a wall. Drive them in and unload them. I'll bet at times they could unload 100 - 200 a day. It'll go up much faster than what they're doing.

    +1

Minefield. 100 yard "Dead Mans Zone." Concertina on each side. Simple. Done.

    Never happen.

Before all this Chinese Virus crap started, my Grandson, who is a Civil Engineer working for the Army Corps of Eng. was next in line to be sent down to help oversee some of the wall construction. He's still waiting for the word to pack up his kit and head South.  25 years old and single, it's an opportunity for him to get some extra pay and a lot of experience.

and a GD policy change would help.....you come across..you get fingerprinted, pictures, and DNA  taken and then forced back out of the country...if you come across and get caught 2nd time it a mandatory 10 years of hard labor and then sent out again...if caught  3rd  time it is life at hard labor...NO paroles , NO liberal early releases...

If we had any kind of guest worker program, they would not stay.  They would pick the crops and go back to their families.  The green chile growers tried using college and high school students one year.  The toughest lasted a whole week.

Build a 20 foot wall, they will bring a 24 foot ladder.
