AK-47 / AK-74 Prices 4/2/20
Hi Guys!
Is it just me? Or are AK-47's and AK-47's on another one of those panic buying price spikes right now? I'm hoping that I can find an AK-74 at a more reasonable price than I have been seeing lately. What do you guys think?

they have been on the climb for some time now ak sks I have been watching for a decent deal but no luck I think remembering the past hurts my idea of a deal
I missed the boat on that one, I sold all but one sks and one AK many years ago .
I for one would not have guessed a AR15 style rifle would cost less than a sks or AK even a Ruger Mini14
I recall when a AR was six to eight hundred just a standard colt and SKS's were 69.00 each and stacked by the crate full at every gun show and a crate of ammo for one about the same cost a AK was two three hundred bucks for about any one
when Klinton did his big gun scare I was going to buy a AR at the next gun show just to have one however I went home with a SS Ruger mini 14 and a mini 30 NIB. a bunch of magazines for each one and ammo for both of them for less than the AR I was going to buy . ( I did go on to buy the AR later on )3 -

It's been years, since I've seen a AK selling for less than a AR. Don't feel bad. I also sold my AK years ago. Even common ordinary Chinese SKS's. That sold for $100, are being sold at comparable prices to AR's. Totally unbelievable!
I like the 7.62 X 39 cartridge, so I built a AR for it. You can go that route, or buy a purpose built commercial AR. They have them, in both 7.62 X 39 and 5.45 X 39. Made mine from the ground up in 7.62 X 39. I'm really happy with it. Way better that a heavy AK.
If you do go this route? Watch out for the various Russian steel case ammo. The stuff they are selling nowadays. Have very heavy, lawyer proof primers. Had to put a +20% hammer spring in mine, to get reliable ignition.0 -
74's somewhat went away altogether with the lack of cheap surplus. Plus the import ban on Kalashnikov.
I hear PSA is talking about bringing out an - AK74SU? Had two friends mention it to me.My interest in AK's has waned - still have a bunch of them but haven't shot them in years.

I bought a TULA 1954 SKS back years ago in Anchorage from a retail gun store for $149.00. I think I will keep it and pass it on to my sons. I have no interest in AK platforms as the AR is serving me just fine. The AR9 is a hoot, the 5.56 is reliable and the 300 BO shoots well. I keep the SKS for nostalgic reasons more than anything. 0 -

I was shopping Arsenal SLR107 and gave up because the bids just kept going...I had a Legion SGL-21 that should have never sold they are going for mid 2k now...ridiculous 0 -
The main selling factor for the AK 74. Was the surplus East Bloc ammo. The so called, "Poison Bullet" ammo. Of course it didn't have any poison it it. Only a void in the nose of the bullet. Between the core and jacket. This promoted tumbling, on hitting organic mater.
Once this cheap East Bloc ammo dried up. And virtually all that was available, was the pricey, commercial, steel case, with the conventional bullets. Interest in the, 5.45 X 39, AK 74's. Waned quickly.0 -

bpost-Spent sometime up there at Elmendorf AFB back in the day. Still have a jar full of M-80's I brought back! And other things

What prices are you seeing AK-74's go for these days? I have one that I may let go of.
